Well my DSM is slowly becoming a hassle to daily drive it. I found a nice looking 170k mile convertible 240SX auto that i was thinking about getting to DD. It's 2,500 with no record of damage or anything on carfax, two owners. Just wondering how long does the average 240sx last before you start having to replace everything. My friend is obsessed with 240's and owns 4 and said "freakin go for it!" but still wanted more opinions.

If anyone can give me the ran down of the good and bad of these cars and known issues people have it would be great!

Sorry for not searching, I am on my phone so searching would cost me alot of minutes. Please forgive the none searching.

Also is the S13 manual to auto the same in the convertible or diff? I wont do this until I get bored of it being stock which will sooner or later happen.

Thanks for the help in advance guys!

hey man, hope you get it! as for the advice, well theres a big ol sticky at the top of this forum that says, "240sx convertible buyer's guide" heres a link: zerothread/312662 . look through there and see if any of your questions get answered. about the transmission swap, its pretty much the same other than some wiring that needs to be done to get the convertible top working.

Lol. Thanks I'm so blind.

Just read it. Is that pretty much all the issues the car is known to have or are there more?

I come from RX7 and DSM background so i'm use to long huge known issue lists. Is 179k too high of a mileage for the car to think about keeping it long term?

well, that thread was vert specific. So pretty much those and whatever the common s13 problems are. and yea I'd say 179k is pretty high, I'd ask for a lower price than 2,500. Anyway, motor mileage doesn't really have to matter becuase *ahem*, you can always swap or build did you check rust and the other wear and tear?

Hey, I'm a DSMer too... welcome to Nicoclub and the vert section.

My KA has about 220k miles and is still running strong. As long as the car was maintained well, these things will go 250k with regular maintenance. I love my vert.

My car has 156k, and it's the best little car ever!

The transmission not wanting to shift problem seems to be the biggest with these cars, but there's a nice fix for that, so don't let it slow you down!!

I have owned mine for a little less than a year, but I also know the guy I got the car from very well, so I have known of this car forever, and it has never been a trouble maker! (Well, at least not in the mechanical problem sense, ha, ha.)
