Hey gang, looking like I might be coming back to the homeland the 2nd and 3rd weeks of August. Nothing concrete yet, but it's in the stages. Would like to get a few people together again for a Meet/BBQ at my grandmothers place. We can use the same hotel as last time, do the same stupid stuff as last time (for those that came in December, you know what I am talking about) and maybe even some other stupid stuff....

Once I found out if this is a go or no-go, I'll start getting things orgnized for the meet.

Hotel prices are pretty decent if you get two to a room.

Dates and Location TBA once trip is finalized.

So, yeah.

Found out today, the wife has reserved tickets for our trip home in August. We are planning on being home from Aug3-Aug17.

Looking to do a BBQ/Meet on the Saturday, the 11th. If you can come, I can make arrangements for hotel rooms in advance. Rooms are about $50 for a double. Splitting the rooms will help with the prices.

Rooms are decent and they have wi-fi too.

Events could include drinking beer, bowling and bar hopping at the end of the night.

Let's get the ball rollin, folks. See ya in August.

Keep me posted. I am about 1.5 hours away. Should have the car finished by the end of April or so.

Last time I was in Galesburg, about 2 months ago, I ended up buying an M1 Garand from a shop there.

Sounds good. I am planning on doing this on the 11th of August, Saturday afternoon at my grandmothers place. She has a huge back yard.

I am thinking on asking for small donations of $1-$5 for the food and the cook...My mom...to be taken on the day of the BBQ. It will also be BYOB for the BBQ, but there will also be some shennigans afterwards.

I just took the car out for the first test drive today. Car had a bad motor in it and we replaced it with a 91 ka24de that only had 68k on it. My car is also a coupe, its a 92 thats got the hud and all power options. Pretty slick car for only 400 bucks, it has a blue fender, door, and bumper on it the other ones were trashed and will get it repainted sometime either late in the summer or winter dont know yet, but yeah maybe i will see you if i get back in time but later on man

Send me an email http://[email protected]. I will let you know when the car is done and for sure whether or not I am coming. I was hoping to have it done by now but the wife added about $6000 mor work for me to do to the house. So the car got pushed back. All that's left is the carpet and seats, paint, and tune.

As of today, April 29th, 2007, the NICO BBQ/Meet and greet has been postponed.

I am flying home tomorrow morning on a family emergency, and the trip is going to take a huge chunk out of my summer vacation money.

I am truely sorry for this, as I was really looking forward to see all of you.

I hope you all understand.

Thanks.

Neal

well mr slow *** maxima i did read all the posts on this thread and no where does it say how far galeburg IL is to st. louis MO so it was a simple ****ing question. and you know what mr. e-thug i hope you go so we can personally meet.

MaximA32

I wasn't "E-thuggin" as you put it. I was simply stating that if you read up a few posts, you would have seen that it was canceled so there's really no reason to figure out how far it is because it's not happening. And so your question gets answered, try http://www.mapquest.com. They should have some idea of how far it is. That's what I like to refer to as "e-pwnage" If you would like to know what "pwnt" means, may I suggest http://www.urbandictionary.com as they will have more than a good idea of what it means. Have a lovely day.

Alright guys, keep your cool please, I don't want this turning into a flame fest.

Nismo, three posts above yours, I stated that it was postponed becuase my grandmother is in the hospital so I am home now, which has taken a bit of my vacation money out. It's cool, no big deal. Sometimes, people just miss posts, I do it to.

Anyway, it looks like I still might be coming home in August. My grandmother is getting better, albeit slowly, and yesterday she told me that she would try to help out with getting me and my family home for vacation. If she were to pass on, my mother has instructions to give us a bit of cash from her inheritance to get us back.

As of now, it's still on the back burner, but I'll let you all know.

Also, Nismo, to get to Galesburg from STL. Take I55 north towards Chicago. Stay on that till you get to I155. Take that to I74 towards Peoria. Take the 474 bypass around Peoria and it meets back up with I74 on the other side. Then just stay on I74 all the way till Galesburg. It's about a 4.5-5 hour drive depending on your driving and traffic. The I474 bypass is a mile longer, but it's quicker because traffic is a pain through downtown Peoria.
