This is the NC (third-gen) Miata, which seems a little spiritually empty to me. The interior is beautiful, but the exterior seems too geometric and uninspired. I prefer the Saturn Sky.

I love that gauge cluster...looks just like the one in the Maxima and Z.

You know...I've always wondered why, on symmetrical gauge clusters like that, the needles don't rotate opposite directions. That'd look a lot better.

the interior is nice....

it's too flat...

the second gen easily has the best curves.

its not the best, however it looks a lot better than the concept they showed that everyone was thinking would become the next one

anyone have a renesis in the miata yet? still just 13Bs going in?

jesda when you get one you can come auto-x ing! haha that sounds funny, for some reason i cant imagine jesda at an autocross

wonder why...

I agree about the gauge cluster. That is one of the nicest gauge clusters I've seen in awhile.

Dude, I've seen a Q do auto-x. It's intense. And sideways.

For clarification, this link contains footage of a ride-along of 5 people aut-crossing in a Q on a closed course.

Bleh, I don't like the 3rd gen much. They tried to squeze to much RX-8 front in w/ miata rear, doesn't look good, and it looks bigger than the 2nd gen (my favorite).

Marks auto-x run in the Q though... AWESOME!

It actually is bigger than the second gen. Really big Americans complained, and Mazda responded. God damn it, thats why there's Sebrings and Mustangs!Actually, that might explain why Mazda responded. Argh. Compromise always has a downside. Fortunately, the power to weight ratio is improved -- should be on par with the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice.

I like the first (NA) Miata myself. A subtle body kit gives it enough edge while still looking like the Lotus Elan. I could go for an NB too, but its way out of my tiny budget.

the third looks like the first in the same style of the retro craze...

they don't need to make the miata retro this soon.

I was hoping the NC would have the sharp edges and contrasting curves of the 3, 6 and RX-8 -- the new "face" of Mazda. I saw some really slick photoshops of such a thing.

he said power to weight is improved, but that might be a result of more power from the same engine

I agree with you.

And I think I'm getting sick of clear tail lights.
