Has anyone used one of these before? How do they sound with no cat?

It'll sound like every other canister style muffler. If you're using a resonator, it'll be fairly quiet. If not, it will be pretty loud.

^ Don't speak.
It will not sound like every other canister style muffler. Having that carbon fiber crap on it will affect the tone. Save up for a full exhaust. Don't spend $200 on a megan muffler.

Good quality exhaust. Why not save another megan muffler's worth of money and buy a full exhaust that will sound good.

Honestly an exhaust is just metal piping the muffler and resonator are the more important parts of an exhaust if you buy an ebay or a cheap exhaust make sure it at least has a resonator on it or you will sound like a ricey honda no matter what and make sure its stainless steel if it isnt then it will just rust away until it falls off literally. I have had that happen to me before so I know first hand how it is. All in all you can get a pretty decent and cheap exhaust you just have to know what the important factors of what your buying are. ie resonators and it being stainless steel.

I see..Looks like im not really gonna get anything good without paying 300-400..so i guess thats my range. Any differences i should think about compared to 2.5in and 3in? My test pipe is 3", should i keep it 3" all the way back?

3" if you plan on boosting the car and keeping the same exhaust.

Why apex'i or hks?? Sure, they're great, but there are many other exhausts out there, cheaper and do the same exact thing. Besides, no one sees it anyways. Go tanabe....cheaper than hks and sounds the same.

I don't know honestly..2 main reputable company's Ive heard of in person..and i was quoted 490 for the Apexi n1, and 500 for the HKS hi-power. Also i don't have a cat and i don't want it to be like all canny and ricey loud and stuff lol, id like a nice tone to it..

If I remember correctly, both are 3" cat back, no resignator.....which is loud. Your best bet is the one listed above. Sure, its not stainless, but from my 15 years experience, it won't rust for quite some time. Stock exhaust is made of the same materials, and a lot are still functioning properly without bring "rusted off." Just my opinion. Just get that exhaust, toss an hks muffler on it and be happy.

Just so ya know I have had this exhaust for two years with no rust of fitment issues. It sounds perfect very deep not ricy raspy at all.

The carbon fiber will affect the tone? Are you serious?

I'm going to wrap some carbon fiber around my exhaust so it sounds different!
