GM Top Engine Cleaner is commonly used to clean out Northstar V8s that have been babied by the elderly (causing carbon buildup). It is the equivalent of Seafoam and used for engine, not the fuel system.

As with any formulations if you are willing to analyse, then buy components in 50 gallon drum quanities and mix up a batch you can save significant money.

But what would you do with 11 x 50 x 5 = 2750 can volume equivalents made for around $2500 That's only ~~$1.10 per can equivalent.

Plus tanks and material handling mixing respirators, space, gloves, hazmat suits

Based on the most expensive component at $20/gal and least at $5/gal

Ebay always has 20+ auctions and many are often combo or quanity deals

Why would you use a MECHANIC to make chemical analysis? However there are many exmechanic in the joint for cooking.

Compare the BG Induction System Cleaner to the GM top cleaner...........warning smelling [bag sniffing] this BG product will cause nerve damage and it must always be used outside or bay open with exhaust diverter pipe attached to send fumes outside.

One can of the BG stuff [improperly used can make a shop uninhabitable for 15 minutes..........this is not something that dealers would allow

If it doesn't take the paint off the walls, burn thru your clothes, and blister your lungs and skin how can it be very effective in cleaning up hard carbon and other deposits? Pure gasoline won't touch the deposits.

A can every 90 days a few days prior to oil change keeps oem injectors as good as they can be with 311,000 miles and probably 65 cans consummed.

715 ounces of BG44k vs 2,100,000 ounces of a product resembling gasoline

3/100ths of a percent extra additives was enough to protect the injectors.

Unfortunately it does act like crack since you immediately notice the eventual misbehaving and rush out for another short term [90 day] fix.

I wish I made a product that cost $60 per year and could be sold to 200 million cars.................a dollar a can profit would be fine.

I love IT. 65 cans!!!

If I knew about the $8 a can sale you guys woulda been knocked DOWN if you were ahead me in line YAAA.

The BMW dealer parts guy on the phone was very reluctant to sell it to me. He wimpered that they only had a little left. I pleaded for two cans--- it was like buying dope!!!!

When I went to pick them up some other dude was on the counter...I said I'm here for my 4 cans .

I don't even want to start the Green Q until I put it in!!!

Its dope.

If you can...try to use Tier one gas...Shell, Chevron. Every pump near me says "contains ethenal.

I filled the tank with Lukoil-then the injector failed. I suspect its all crap. On the BMWer boards they mention the poor quality of USA gas. BMW has to tune cars different for us. Octanes are higher in Europe.

BTW, how often can you use BG44K? Will the the car need a 12 step program? If I were richy Rich Rich how often could I put it in?

Does the oil change have anything to do with the use of the BG44 or is this simply a way to gauge how often it should be used?

- just wanted to chime in and say that I just placed an order with Joe for BG44k and Qwik Clean. I've been using this amazing product in my Q for almost a year now.

Joe is running a November 5% off special.

I finally added a can of this to my Maxima last month (115k miles) as I was starting a normal work trip. I usually use 2/3-3/4 of a tank on this particular trip (280 miles) but only used 1/2 a tank this time. I am now on my next fill-up and anxious to see what it does next week when I do the same trip. I was pleasantly surprised at the lower gas consumption I received via the tank with BG

Serious industrial qulaity sovents can contaminate your crankcase, so best done and then have fresh oil in the crankcase until next time.

i really doubt that using BG44k in the middle of your OCI vs at the end makes any sort of measurable difference, but for some it makes us feel better about the "freshness" of everything..

What do you think spraying such a severe solvent does for your cylinder wall lubrication?

If Dennis recommends changing the oil after use, I am inclined to follow his advice.

Its different for something like doing an induction cleaning, where the solvent goes directly into the combustion chamber or into something else, but when its being mixed with gas in a small quanitity, i wouldnt say it has any more effect on cylinder wall lubrication than just straight gasoline does...

I bet you've used Chrysler combustion chember cleaner. That stuff will clear the shop if improprely handled. It is so toxic when burned in the engine that it may put u in the hospital. Combstion chember cleaner really wonderfull stuff but only i fused in Jeep-Chrysler products (don't try it on enything else - will eat plating off of throttle body). I've used it every year when I had my Jeep roaming the terrritory!Cheers!P.S Chrysler stuff smells like nothing else.
