It might not be safe for yourself (but then again what really is?) but there are times where going 100 on the highway does not endanger ANYONE else.

No need to look up to me, I'm no role model. :D

When you have a car that was built to run at 160 mph for extended periods of time, that is IMPECCABLY maintained, with factory-spec alignment, all-new suspension components, perfectly balanced Z-rated tires, and a driver with over a million miles of experience and countless track hours, the answer is...

YES.

LOL - No harm intended, brothaman - I callz 'em like I seez 'em. :D

Actually, 10 over in Phoenix is nothing, and if you do 40, which is the limit on all surface streets here, you'll get run over. Phoenix is laid out on a grid, with all main streets creating one-square-mile blocks. The average speed in town is 56, according to last year's NHTSA data for the Metro area.

Ever wonder why Phoenix is home to 4 of the "Top Five Deadliest Intersections" (true statistic)? It's because when people run a red light here, it's ALWAYS a 90-degree angle collision, and the average speed of the offending car in all of these? 59 mph.

One reason I have a Q and a Suburban, and extensive track time - I want to survive this place. :D

Nightfall, not to be mean but if you know that the cops are very harsh around your area why not make a concious effort to drive carefully especially in places where the cops are normally. And dont even ask because yes i have a perfect driving record and its not gonna change even though the cops in my area are bloodsuckers. Come on arent all cops man

dude, my area is backwards... i dont like the cops for anything...but the sheriff is actually totally cool. when i first had my 240 and i was just learning how to drive stick.. i spun my tires hard right next to one and we caught eyes and i knew i was going down and all he said was "heh just now learning the old stick?" then he continued to give me a crashcourse quicky to not stall or spin... he didnt even question if i did it otuta disrespect. he was cool with the fact i was just learning, and by the way, he didnt even have to pull me over.. it was at a redlight for him and i was right next to him.

I do not have a perfect driving record, but it isn't bad either.

But I certainly do not have any sympathy for a kid under 18 whose after losing all his points. I see all kinds of those kids flying up and down busy streets with like 6 of their friends packed into mommy n daddy's 4 or 5 passenger compact car. Or trying to make a minivan perform well beyond its means.

Don't take this as a flame because it is not.

You'll look back years from now and think 'What tha fawk was I thinking?!?"

Learn from your mistakes, move on :)

I agree with the fact that your license chould be taken away. i do dissagree with the way some states are handling the new driver ticket thing. I will be losing my licence next week because of 2 speeding tickets totaling 4 points total. I was sentenced to a probationary driver course but since I am unable to attend on the computer shcedualed date (damn college) I'm "SOL" (DMV lady's exact words...)

Being a kid kind of sucks, because the cops know that you're going to do stupid things and they'll do everything they can to beat it into your head that you shouldn't be doing stupid things. Speeding, accidents, those are all on you. Sure, go ahead and say the cops are ****s. Yeah, cops are ****s everywhere. So? Gonna ***** about it your whole life?

I dunno if FL is like CA, but out here they sent me a couple of letters as I was on the way to losing my license. The kind that say things along the lines of, "Stastics show that people who accrue points like you do are at higher risk of causing accidents, and therefore if you keep it up, we're gonna snatch your license." I almost lost mine, and only got to keep it because I need a car to do my job and the DMV official was willing to give me a break.

You knew you had points, and you kept driving the way you wanted to drive. I hate to break it to you, but driving isn't about doing it the way you want to do it (unless your on a race track, but even then you have to follow some rules). I think that you know how you screwed up. I hope that you'll be able to get your head realigned and develop some habits that help you hold onto your license like; not being the fastest car on the road, realizing that you're not saving much time by going 30 over the speed limit, and actually paying attention to people who say, "Hey, the cops are ****ing with kids. You might want to keep it 5 under."

Cops are biased like everyone else. Some cars are practically invisible to them. Others attract their attention. When I was driving my 87 BMW 528, no cops even looked at me. On the other hand, when I was driving my primer grey 72 Datsun 510 with a NASCAR-loud SuperTrapp, I had a local cop pull me over and actually say, "You're 23. You know better than to drive a car that looks like that."

If you're driving a "sports car", you're destined to get screwed with. It comes with the territory, and either you're able to adjust your driving habits to deal with it, or you're not and you end up using your license.

Hehe, AZhitman - Always the voice of reason...

Yeah, every kid I know (I'm 18, and on probation for 15 over) thinks the cops are out to get them. Yeah, theres a **** in every town, but not everyone with authority is out to get you.

I hated that bastard pulled me over, but he's a state trooper doing his job. He had like 4 cases when I was in court for my ticket. He obviously does his job.

The road says 35MPH... I went 50, I got a ticket... Sure, the trooper that ticketed mehas pulled many kids over and 3 of my friends. Doesn't mean he's out to get us kids, it means us kids don't obey traffic laws.

If it says 35, 36 is illegal.

If it says stop, rolling is a ticket.

Who DOES that? Q's are cool.

why dont you try to take defensive driving to get the points taken away, or go to court and bend over for a hundred more. well it works in ol' indiana at least. the court is so nice give them hundred or so more than what the ticket was for and they magically turn it into a parking ticket...no points, theiving nazis.

I HAD a loud exhaust, and when I had it on, it actually got me out of a speeding ticket. The cop never really had hard evidence that I was doing 85 in a 50 (my radar was silent) but a car going that fast definetly doesn't look like its doing the limit. So I told him I was doing about 60 and he let me off with a "loud exhaust" ticket. Definetly beats a speeding ticket, but I've never gotten stopped for loud exhaust. It just tends to attract more police attention, so I guess it makes me a better driver if I'm thinking any cop in the area is looking me

heh, cops suck. I can say that with a reasonably good idea of what I am talking about. I live in Fargo, ND. AKA the fifth ring of hell. the cops DO pick on us here, for any reason. prime case and point, a local newspaper editor had a car with a *cracked* not broken, tail light. he drove the car, his kid drove the car. when he drove the car, no problems, when his kid drove the car, he got pulled over every day. why? for a cracked tail light. nothing more. kind of lame. I am 23 now, but I still have a buring hatred for cops!!! :)

I once had a license in Minnesota and I lost it for 90 days for having 6 tickets in a 2 year span. I also got dropped by my insurance company. that sucked. but, they did give me a "work permit" odd thing was I deliver pizzas for a living.

5 out of 6 tickets were issued in North Dakota. As soon as I got my MN license back, I switched it back to a ND license. I asked the ND people how long it would be before my record was transferred, they said as soon as you have the license in my posession. they also said that only the tickets I receivedd in ND would show up. I thought, oh great, I am still screwed for INS. well, the INS. people ran a DMV check on me after I got my ND license. It was spotless. clean as a whistle. good thing ND doesn't keep very good track of moving violations.

and before you people go on about how I shouldn't have a license, lemme tell you about my tickets........ 1. following too close (rear ended someone on the ice)2. speeding (78 in a 70) interstate3. improper lane usage. I went between parked cars and a limo that was blocking me in to a parking space on the street on my motorcycle to make a right turn.4. speeding (52 in a 45)5. failure to display lighted lamps, in minnesota, having a burnt out headlight is a moving violation. thats retarded.6. I cant remember, I'll look it up tomorrow. it was a lame ticket like speed care required or some other BS.

but yeah, I hate cops, and they obviously dont like me! oh well. I just drive less conspicious cars now. like a SAAB 900, anyone wanna buy it?? lol

Perfect driving record, I ride a machine that will do WELL over the posted highway speed, in second gear. I've clocked 11,200 miles on my bike and have never been pulled over, never been cited for any traffic violation in/on any vehicle, ever. I constantly(during summer) see guys on bikes being pulled over. Too much thrill seeking urge at the wrong time.

The difference between a guy with a perfect driving record, and the guy who just lost his license is the level of self-discipline. Make wise choices, act responsibly, and you'll have no problems.

Like every driver, I speed often. I like to travel at high speeds, from time to time.... but ONLY when I see proper conditions for doing so, and ONLY after I weigh the ramifications of such actions. Do the same, and you'll have less unwanted meetings with the cops.

And as for cops, I feel your pain. I hate them with a passion. Living in a county where the crime rate is practically zero doesn't leave much for cops to do except pull over people to meet their quota. [/QUOTE]

I wonder just where this guy lives? Hell, I might want to move there. They must not need to buy car alarms, removeable faceplate radios, or even lock their doors!

McAdam - As I don't have time to re-type it, please reference my post on Page 1. Applies to you too.

And (as you requested) I won't "go on and on" about how you shouldn't have a license, I'll just keep it short:

You shouldn't have a license.
