I need to borrow someones welder for some precision welding for at most 30 minutes (including mock-up time) to get the seat in it's place in my S12.

I need an actual MIG or flux-core to do this work.
Please help!

In all honesty, that would probably work.

Welders are pretty cheap, and are GREAT investments.

Our local rental place has one of those that costs $20 for 4 hours and that includes a helmet, gloves, ect. I've used it and they are excellent for small projects. To buy one is about $150.

I would have thought it would be obvious now, but I don't have any money.

Just bought the car with everything I had. Was laid off from my job three months ago and have bills to pay. I probably would have asked for recommendations on welding equipment if I was ready to buy some.

Thanks, but this weld that I need is so I can get the car on the road so I can get a job. All the work here is in VA, and I had to move in with my folks so I wouldn't be homeless. DC Metro and bus sucks, so I have to borrow a car now if I want to get anywhere within 3 hours.

Just figured it might be cheaper to rent one than it would be to drive out somewhere to pick one up, use it, and drive it back.

And seriously, the battery trick would probably work. You'd just need to get 1 weld stick, which would be cheap as hell. Is JB weld out of the question?

There's one in your car and one in your mom's.

Yeah, that's not a good idea seeing as how I'd have to replace them should anything happen.
Also, good luck getting anyone to "lend me their battery".

You guys suck.

Seriously, smurf, I know you're trying to be "helpful" but I didn't ask how to build a welder.

Much less any particular one that will endanger the operation of stuff that isn't mine.

No, you are stating that you need to weld something, without giving any details about said "thing" whatsoever, and nobody was coming through with a welder so I made a few suggestions, which you scoffed at. I fail to see how you are (always) right, and everyone else is (always) wrong.

Do some research, perform everything correctly, and all the equipment will be fine.

Work your local red light district until you can make the $20 or so dollars it costs to rent a welder.

I'm sure you can make that much in three or four days.

Hey man, you offered help even tho you didn't have the means. It's not directed at you.

Just for good measure, I went and asked about the batteries and was told "hell no".
