I really need to get a timing gun and check mine, theres no way im pinging around 5-6k rpms @ 10psi if that's true unless my timing is wayyy advanced.

You timming must be advanced cause i have ran 12psi on the stock intercooler on the streets all the time for 8 months and no probs at all.

I'm going out to buy a timing gun shortly. When boosting 10-12psi, what would someone recommend to set the timing at? stock 15 degrees or should I retard it some?

hi, your mechanic is actually on the ball. it's all relative. Basically the bigger your turbo via t28 vs t25 the less boost you'll need to run to achieve the same horse power as a smaller turbo at higher boost. basically after that, the size of your turbo will depict where your power band will be - hence turbo lag in some cases. 10 should be okay, that may be a bit too close to max for me if I were doing it to my engine. If you have all your other settings stock personally I wouldn't go past 10 in a t28. Then again I like to play it safe (don't want to replace any blown engine parts!) so I plan on running a really safe 10psi on my t25. You should be fine at 10, personally wouldn't go higher without some other mods/engine work. I'm still a small fish in a big pond when comes to tuning, but I hope this helps.

When we pulled the 21psi w/ the stock injectors we had a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, and stock injectors(370cc). It layed down 325 to the wheels. We have since switched to 480cc (s15) . injectors and it's not leaning out anymore. We are running a SAFC to tune the fuel. and Super ITC for the timing. We also runa Mines ECU.

Okay. I guess I am gonna run it @ stock boost for a few days, then try 10psi on my T28. Dammit, I wish they would hurry up on my harness!

Just thought i would poop off a reply from the UK.

SR20DET T28, 98ron fuel , 14.5psi is about the max we run on std ish setup (zorst, decat), much more boost and we hit fuel cut.

It is possible to run over 300bhp, on the std ECU and injectors , but that is right on the edge.(requires zorst, decat, downpipe, BIG FMIC (alot of people are running larger intercoolers than any jap companys make) ....)

you people are dumb for running the stock crap injectors out, I've seen too many guys melt windows into pistons doing that, but I guess if you wanna brag that you run 20 PSI go for it. The real bragging rights are for those who run 30+psi and are on the wild side of 9000rpm's.

OK, reviving this one from the crypt. (NOT S13 T25 so please don't post about the max efficiency range on a T25- we all know that already) Fibercus, who knows alot of S14 SR guys in So Cal informed me that the stock 370cc injectors on an S14 SR with the stock T28 are flat out at 100% at .89 bar. I set my boost controller to limit and reduce boost 10% at .84 bar. The max boost I have reached like this is .8 bar. I have been doing this several times a week for a few months, bus usually keep it around .5 bar. Is my high setting pushing it too far? Seems to run fine, and I have a feeling I tend to run rich up here at 8k feet elevation. Am I being too generous with boost?

0.8bar is fine

i get 98% duty cycle at 0.90 barfriend of mine had 99% at 0.94 bar(got 550cc now)

i also did a run with 1.0 bar and got 100% at just over 4k rpm.

yay! man i really need to get a SAFC. *once* i made a terrible mistake when I first started tweaking on my SBC Spec R and turned up the boost and gain simulaneously-ALOT. I was spinning tires and fishtailing into third gear. i hit peak hold on my boost gauge, and it went all the way up to 1.25 bar! Whoops! Still runs fine to this day, every day. Something to be said about the SR's stock bottom end.
