I installed a Megan tubluar mani and an s14 sr turob on my redtop and now tthe heat is noticasbley different as soon as the hood opens. So far it started to wear on my oil tube from the turbo to block (inside crusted up) from the heat. I dont know if heat wrapp will fix the problem and thats alot of money to throw away if nothing changes.

What would fix the problem? I also have a vibration at 4k and it makes the breather filter move its so bad....

Maybe try some heat wrap on your manifold. As far as the breather filter moving try making a bracket out of some aluminum from like home depot or something.

Heat wrap will wear out the mani faster. I have always wanted to do it to my stock mani. because that thing ant wearing out or cracking! No catch can? Breather filter? Thats not what nissan intended for the pcv system.O well, I guess it works for you. To each his own.

Thats not the PCV, the PCV is on the rear passenger side corner of the valve covers, that is a breather used for controlling oil vapors. You are correct though, it should be connected to a source on the intake, before the turbo.

Corey, I would guess some sort of vent in the hood, to alow heat to escape, might help you. Also for the oil hose, try using - 10 steel braided hose, it holds up to heat much better.

It's a turbo car, it'll get hot.

However, check base timing...if you have it plunked in there and it's at 18 base, it'll get hot as **** under the hood.

Also, get that cheapass breather filter off the valve cover, and run a catch can (as said above). You'll thank us later.

I know its not the pcv. But it is part of the pcv system right?

I dont see the point of the catch can. I was told befor it doesnt really do anything and running a straight hose from the block to the valvecover and a filter on the other T end it will be fine. I will check my timing and if it doesnt fix it stock mani is going back on. How would off timing make the motor hot like this?

I dont run a catch can, I have one side going to the factory seporator can, and the other side is plumbed directly back to the intake tube, if you dont have serious blowby then a catch can is not really needed, but there should always be a small amount of vacuum applied to that T. Whoever your source is, they sound rather uninformed.

If your timing is over advanced, it could be running right at the limit of detonations, running hot is the precursor to holly pistons. If the timing is retarded, and you are running a catalytic converter, the excess unburned fuel being dumped into the exhaust can cause the cat to greatly increase in temp, even to the point of glowing.

Well im running a straight 3 1/2 from outlet tube to n1 so no cat. I checked the timing and its good. I check the plugs again, mafs went bad or is dirty so im working on that now. If the plugs are good stock mani goes back on.

I changed my coil packs because of a hesitaation. Maybe the bad packs are making it run in a way to where its heating the motor up like lean. I will know tomorow for shore.
