LOL. According to the local paper, it sounds like both of them acted childishly. "Saving a spot" is actually against the law in NYC, because of incidents just like this one.

Evidently she was trying to save a parking spot for her BF but this guy got to the open spot before the BF. He got out and asked her to move. She refused and the ensuing argument heated up quickly. She allegedly attacked him first, punching him 4-5 times, before he lost all common sense and decked her with one punch. He fled when he saw BF came charging up.

It's a shame. Both were stupid.

Nope. I will preface this statement with a disclaimer : It is def not ok to hit women...

With that said, it is not ok to hit anyone. The only thing that I hate as much as men who beat women is women who hit men because they know that men should not hit women and they can get away with it.

My thought: Don't throw a punch unless you are ready to receive one.

Same here, I've seen it way to many times. When a girl knowing she can fully get away with hitting a guy smacks him across the face during an argument saying that it was still completely unnecessary to punch her in the head.

In a situation like this you just have to be the bigger person and find another parking spot.
If you can't let it go... circle back to the offending vehicle and let all the air out of all the tires. Feels good and nobody has to die.

I got in a fight with a guy in a parking lot once who closed the door on my work van while I was inside working on an icee machine. His girlfriend pulled him away before we could really get into it. I let all the air out of his tires parked at the end of the lot where I could see his car and waited. Seeing that fool hoping around freaking out was priceless. I honked and waved as I slowly drove out of the parking lot. I was 18 at the time I don't think I would do something like that now. If your creative there are better ways to make your point then punching the chick out

Well put but he didn't almost get into a fight, he claims he was assaulted. She was acting like a child, you cant hold spots, its first come first serve. I'm sure she was flipping out, making a scene, he got out and nasty words were exchanged followed by the blows.

From what I've read she held the spot for her BF, which is against the law in NY. Obviously that would make a lot of people upset, breaking the law (strictly speaking), is breaking the law, no matter how small the law. But then when he got out to confront her about HER law breaking she attacks him? This guy definately has a temper, but maybe he shoulda aimed for the stomach instead. He deserves an assault charge which can range anywhere from 1-7 years based on priors. But if he hadn't hit back that woman could be seeing the same time. Situational awareness will get you pretty far, think before you act, but his temper got involved.
