Well, she "fell" into a coma. Might not have been just the punch. Her head hitting the curb on the way down could have done the trick too. Or at least aided in the coma.

now that that's out of the way, i don't blame the dude for laying her out. he could have walked away, he could have tackled her and held her down until she either calmed down, or police showed up. if he did walk away, what's to say she wouldn't attack him further? like it was previously said, no one knows what was going through that guy's mind. i know for a fact that any time i've ever been physically assaulted, my first instinct was to fight back. in the heat of the moment, not too many people can stay level-headed enough to act rationally. i have been sucker punched in the face by a girl (my friend and i were laughing when she failed miserably at trying to do a burnout in a v6 mustang with an open diff). she immediately hopped into her car and started driving off. what was my first reaction (after getting over the shock of her actually hitting me)? i pounded my fists on her rear qp as she sped off. if she stuck around, would i have hit her? i can't say, but in that fight or flight situation, my personal instinct was fight.
