Ok fellas heres the skinny i gotta 240 its a 91 and it has the KA in it. And well i seen thousands of people boasting about they're SR20DET but you know what damnit i wanna be different. so heres the deal i need you guys to help me achieve 200whp. heres what i got so far.

Lightweight Pulley systemlighter FlywheelCold air intakeheader3" catbackremove fan and add electric onesremove EGR

now with that in mind can you guys add to that for me.

oh and i know its possible. for all you KA haters, my uncles friend races a KA that holds 548rwhp on stock internals. ^_^ get some!

you CAN'T make 200whp without opening the engine. you car stock might make 120whp if you're lucky. flywheel and pulleys don't add horsepower.

also, please show me a 200whp 240sx with bolt ons.

Because the KA24DE, by design, cannot make that much power without forced induction.

There was a KA24E (SOHC) that was built by a race team, I can't remember correctly, but they probably had a huge budget.I don't remember if they even got 200hp out of it. But keep in mind, that 200hp-ish engine wasn't made for daily driving, it was meant to be torn down and rebuilt after every race.

Even if you dump money into the KA, and somehow manage to reach 200hp, you will not have daily driving reliability.

Someone will probably chime in with the link to the race engine.

yeah i guess your right.i had a 4g63-t eclipse awd 200hp and it was crap when it came down to just driving.the idle was high as hell and it sucked gas sooo bad.

well what do you suggest cause im trying to smoke this mustang 5.0 on my street(he's a import flamer) and still be able to drive it.and i just wanna be different than all the other sr guys in 240's out there

your not gonna get it, its impossible. dont let anyone tell you its achievable by putting bolt ons or a ungoverned transmission lol. if you wanna be different, put some other motor in the car. that isnt going to be cheap but if you really want to be different, then i say go for it. or you can always have a 450whp KA

or you can make an all motor sr20de

Looked into it myself, Found an SR20 block to build up for cheaper.

Recently ran into a kid in my town with a built DOHC KA, he had a ton of **** stripped from the interior to the engine bay.He muttered about different pistons IIRC for higher CR, ITB's, Megasquirt, full exhaust from header back.Went for a ride in the car with him and I'll admit it had pep... but it didn't feel anywhere near 200rwhp.

N/A with a KA is expensive/requires studying.... just boost.

eh, turbo is possible.ok so i guess im gonna turbo the damn thing.

the sr is nice but with the money i spend to buy the motor i could make a hell of a KA(T)and since its imported if something happens on it i gotta get that stuff shipped from japan to fix it.

so maybe i'll jack with the internals a lil bit. maybe run a higher compression too

I would suggest fixing any issues you might have with your KA, rebuild the whole engine. You can turbo it once you have it running clean and smoothly.

Yeah.. you're not going to find anything "different" to do with your KA. It's all been done. Just choose something logical and smart for your budget, and do it.

yeah, i call BS on the eclipse comment. I have a friend with a 240-250hp FWD eclipse, and is a nice ride. also, people down here with AWD eclipses push some nice power, and DD their cars.

If you really want to be different than the sr guys, go with a rb20/25/26 or go with a 1jz/2jz.

What do you call BS on his eclipse comment? The turbo models made 180-195 hp stock.

stock it wouldnt suck fuel unless you ran WOT near all the time, and they dont drive horrible as he claimed.

(the 2g's made 210hp stock, 1g's made 180-195)

OT: you want booooost. make sure to rebuild/get the KA in good shape before going ka-t

granted it was to the crank but still impressive...besides he left out cams, opening up t.b, electric fans, theres still more to make it a little faster.....im not here to pick sides as for what he is to do....im just saying, it is not impossible to get 200 rwhp outta a Ka...it just takes some money and time as does every car!

although you can't make 200 at the wheels with just bolt ons,,,

Even if you get close to the engine in the thred then the engine must be in good condition.

Thus very much ready for BOOST!!!

and obviously over 200 at the wheels

Good luck to you

I did shine some lightI told you to rebuild before going ka-t, or to be different go with rb or 1jz/2jz.

Sorry about the comment on the eclipse, just the dsm's down here roll pretty deep, so im a bit biased lol.
