They're also in VW's back pocket.

We, on the other hand, have no such luxuries.

Ads are a necessary function, and are (believe it or not) part of the attraction. Especially considering some of the deals we get from these guys.

I've never understood why so much distaste for ads. When i need to find out how much something is, the links are there, when it's time to buy, the links are there. done deal. it took me less than a minute to find the safc2 on phase2's site, and less than 2 mins to buy it. It'll be here Wed. Doesn't get better than that.

Well of course... ad revenue is what makes the web go

Just depends on how they are implemented.

I decided they were so bothersome, I had to spent an hour or so figuring out how to get rid of them, if they were easy to deal with, and not taking up 1/3 of the screen then I wouldn't really care.

I don't mind having 'em over there at all. In fact, it *is* quite handy. When I want to order something, I just click on the appropriate ad to the left. Considering the frequency with which I order parts for my poor ailing 240SX, every little bit of time saved is worth it. ;)

my only big issue with the ads is that if my cache dumps itself i have to reload all the ads. on dial up, that takes a good 5 minutes depending on how crappy my transfer rate is

one thing i like that VW Vortex did, and it was one of my most favorite features on EvoM until they moved to the new VBB, was the status saying "Online" and "offline" right under the avi. I find that so much more helpful than trying to find a picture that represents online or offline.

these pseudo-pop antics of yours are corny. 240sx.org is dead. what we have here are breeding grounds for profit seekers and ... kids.
