I have a 94 infiniti q45 and on my MAF wireing harness, the wires are cut... My car was broken into when I went to tenn. and they cut the wires on it... I ordered a whole new MAF with harness... But I need to know how I can reconnect the wires so that i can drive untill the part comes in... I thought it would be just putting color together but it doesnt work right... I have (Black,White,Black and white) wires. along with the bare ground wire... but the bare ground wire is missing from the MAF side... Do I just reconnect them to their same colors and run the bare ground to a ground on the car? I cant find a wireing diagram anywhere... Thanks for your help..

If you have vandalism on your insurance, you can just file a claim and they will pay for a rental car. Otherwise just wait til the new one comes in.

Well i wish i had coverage for vandalism... but i already looked into that... I would rather wait for the new part but I have to work and its my only way around... I wont get the part in untill tuesday... If anyone can at least give me a wiring diagram on this I could use the one I have untill the new one comes in... thanks

This is the quickest link I have found so far. Maybe Jesda still has these pics somewhere else?

I remember reading it originally and laughing even then!

Sorry you had to wait so long - usually one of the guys with easy access to wiring diagrams will post a pic. The connector only uses 3 of the 4 pins, so you should be able to put it back just as you've suggested. I don't believe the ground wire goes to the MAF. But ... where's the connector - still attached to the MAF side or the harness side? Which side of the connector was cut? I can't recall offhand - does the ground connect to the harness side of the connector?

As I said, the MAF side only uses 3 of the 4 pins. I know that for a fact.

The wires that are directly connected to the MAF... its cut like 2 inches from the plug that goes into the MAF. I hooked them up and taped them accordind to their colors and it runs, but the rpms jump around now... I cant find anything else that was damaged, could just a dirty MAF cause that? It has been jumping around for a while before the vandalism, but it is dramatically worse now... acceleration is very sad... its like it bogged down untill about 3000 rpm... I recently put in all new 8 NGK Iridium IX and it runs somewhat better... Could my coil packs need changed as well? Those are expensive... thanks

I would be more concerned about the quality of the connections you made. When you say you "hooked them up" how exactly did you do that... butt splices, twist and tape, solder? I would solder them at a minimum. Minute differences in MAF output voltage as seen by the ECU can cause radical driveablity issues. Coil packs tend to be pretty bullet proof on the G50 series Q.

I just spliced the wires and wraped them up tight and taped it up... I used this tape that you heat up and it shrinks... not shure exactly what its called... It will do untill I get my new part, but I would like to figure out why the rpms are jumping at idle... it doesnt die... not a vacume hose leak... may bad 02 sensors... but wouldnt my check engine light be on??

So you just twisted them together and used heat-shrink tape? That's probably your problem... either way you have to get those connections right before you go chasing other components on the car. Otherwise you're just throwing parts at a problem without eliminating what is most likely wrong.
