I'd want to put some sort of mesh screen over the hole and fake the same on the opposite side just for some aesthetic balance. Step 2!

Yes you have to remove the original one, and I did come across a sensor (intake air temp sensor) i just left mine dangling.pathfinder_se_black wrote: LOL
haha im going to try that. did you remove the original one? if so, did you come across any sensors?
you gotta jack the car up, its easier if you take off the wheel but i didnt do thatbenny8 wrote: Had a go at this mod last night i pulled the air box out and there was some stupid black channel piece in the way is this somthing to do with the 3.3. i looked around but couldent figure out where the opening to it was big time pain the the a**
The IAT (intake air temperature) sensor tells the engine the temperature of the air entering the intake so it knows the density of the air entering the engine. Normally you want the sensor on the intake tube or as close to the air filter as possible to get an accurate reading. If you place the sensor in a remote location and the air temperature is different than that of the air entering the engine, then the engine will run rough and will probably throw a DTC for the IAT sensor. On the 2003-2004 Pathfinders they combined the IAT and the MAF sensors into one, so I would suggest placing the IAT sensor somewhere between the MAF sensor and the throttle body on the intake tube.GRNMACHINE wrote:Update, with the Path out of commision until I replace calipers I figured it was a good time to try this mod. I already have the Jim Wolf intake. Removing the "resonator" is only 3 10mm bolts. I didnt have to jack up the vehicle or remove wheel although that would have made it easier to be sure. There is 1 bracket I had to loosen that helps "hold" the bumper. Had to loosen it to pull the tubing down. Havent had a chance to test out the improvement or reported gas mileage unimprovement. In theory, this looks as close to a "Ram Air" setup as possible. I am expecting at least .001 extra horses and a 1/4 mile time of at least 35-40 seconds. Only thing I am curious about is the intake temp sensor. What is it really for? I am going to zip tie/Innovazn "zap strap " it to something and hope for the best. The additional weight loss of about 19 oz of worthless plastic should net some additional gains as well. And thanks Nissan, for putting out a V6 with 171 horses! Mustangs, look out now ( I wont be as far and indistinct in the rear view mirror as previously.....)
