Hello all,

Do you get a chance to glance at the HowTo links posted in the stickies above once in a while?
Pretty helpful and good for when you need to print something out, right? I usually record videos of a lot of my car work (sometimes they make it to youtube) and would like to share my successes and failures.

I consulted with some great minds and we think that videos would be a good addition to the FAQs. We're looking for more of "this is the task, and this is how you do the task" type stuff to keep things neat and easily navigable.

I mainly wanted to open this thread to anyone who has come across a helpful/instructional video to share it here and it will be moved in due course.

Whatcha got?

Haha, thanks WillV. I pledged to Ilya that i wouldn't make this the EdBwoy show, but if the public demands, well...
I'll post some videos later, I've been swamped with work lately.

What a great thing to do! Thanks!
I am not one to mess about under my bonnet, but almost everyone else does and these will certainly help! I like them because I can now see what the parts look like and where they are.

This. I was hoping somebody else would say it so I wasn't the only person replying! Thanks Larz

*These ones might be long. The aim of these videos is to show the problem, the troubleshooting, then the solution.

1. Loose or wobbly armrest
2. Clogged windshield washer nozzles + replacement
3. Water leaking in car. Sunroof draining issue
4. Camshaft or Crankshaft sensor replacement. Video link within this thread
5. Fuel pump under seat bottom
6. Replace windshield washer reservoir
7. Replace engine air filter. Both generations of M45
8. Blower motor under the glovebox

A. Fuel pump location for the y34 model
B. Y34 with loose steering column. Video within This Link

These are not common replacement items. Be very careful with these, broken clips are a very good possibility.

1. A pillar and C pillar trim pieces. Unfortunately, I had already removed the B ones to get the front seatbelts (a process that didn't make it to video for some reason)
2. Sun visors
3. Map light, dome light, sunroof controls
4. Coat hook and the "oh crap" grab handles
5. Headliner - need a friend for this one
6. Shark fin/ satellite radio antenna
7. Vertical part of trunk lid to get to backup camera etc...
8. Trunk chrome pieces
9. Inner trunk lid tail lamps & reverse light
10. Trunk smart key push button
11. Fancy plugs for some of the airbags/ SRS components

Thanks a bunch! These will be a super help to me, as I am about to redo the brakes in all 4 corners! I'm gonna end up watching them all though, I can tell. Oh and shoutout to the windshield washer clogged things too; I need that LOL

And I apologize I stopped making the "prework" and "tools needed" slides in the beginning of my videos; although I always make a point to call out the sizes of the tools I'm using.

On the windshield nozzles, try going at them with a safety pin first to see if a little crud is all you have. Mine looked pretty bad, so I decided a soaking in vinegar/ WD40/ whatever else would be coming up.

Replacing the accessory drive belts and pulleys. I might need to rearrange things in the thread for clarity.

  1. Remove belts
  2. Remove the entire pulley bracket
  3. Remove the pulleys, leave the brackets intact

You wouldn't happen to have a DIY on how to remove the Exhaust Manifold on a 2006 M45 would ya?

Unfortunately not, but I made a rough write up for the driver side some time back:

I've had queries from various sources recently, it's definitely something that's in the back of my mind to record if I ever had to replace one again (knock on wood).
Have you gotten any quotes for the work?

How about a how-to on how to remove the escl on the y50. Need mines replaced badly and don't wanna pay crazy Dallas stealership prices.

I know you've seen at least one of these discussions on that topic:
1. post6767256.html?hilit=escl#p6767256
2. post6767888.html?hilit=escl#p6767888
3. infiniti-m35x-steering-column-lock-2007-t620138.html

The last link especially makes me very wary of replacing just the ESCL. My preferred method would be to replace the entire steering column, although involving a few more steps... then get it programmed. We can only confirm if mental updates. Then I'll have to learn how to remove the unit since my curiosity will get the best of me.

Anyway, if I ever find another car that needs the work and I have the time, I'll record it; but as it is, Ms are very scarce in my location.
