Hello All,

I'm new to to the forum and a new owner of a 2000 Q45 AE. Without doing the proper research (I'm kicking myself now) I purchased a set of 2006 (might have been 07) M35x wheels and tires. I found I needed a 1/4 inch spacer for the front and longer lugs, so I went with a high end aluminum spacer (Joe's Spacers).

My mechanic and I have tried everything we can think of, but I still have a bad "wobble" or "shimmy" which hits at about 55+ MPH and stops around 65+ MPH.

We've replaced everything in the front end, so it's tight and had a 4 wheel alignment. I've had the wheels and tires balanced, rebalanced, checked for a bad tire or bad / out of round rim, nothing, everything is perfect.

So we finally stick back on the factory Anniversary Edition wheels and the shimmy is gone, goes down the road strait as an arrow.

Any ideas, suggestions, info, solutions you all might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

I would really like to run these, I wanted to stick with an OEM Infiniti wheel which appealed to me and not go aftermarket. Of course the flip side is I wanted to go 18X8, the 17X7.5 AE rims just don't do it for me.

Thank you,

Wayne

:welcome: to NICO!

Well... if the wheels are properly balanced, and the car is fine with OEM wheels... I'd say it's the spacers? Any time you move that much weight away from the hubs with spacers, I'm sure it changes a lot with the suspension and how much unsprung weight is stressing different things.

I think your ultimate solution is going to be to find some different wheels. Frustrating for sure...

Hello Q45MOD,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, my mechanic said the same as you. Narrowed it down to the spacer (we think). I guess unless I hear a solution from a member, I'll have to put them up for sale.

In researching I did see that member NY94J30, who has the same car as mine, did a "test fit" of some FX wheel which are the same bolt pattern, 18X8 with a +40 offset, and he had clearance, no spacer needed. But his post was back in 2007. Wonder if everything worked out for him? Here is the post:

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
