if making a car have an increase of 1 MPG be worth millions to car companies then Tesla and Fisker would rule the car industry right now. I was gona go further in detail about what I think but its not worth it if u think these cars are best tuned from the factory.

Would the sound change a lot if I just changed the mufflers? Because, actually, i LOVE the stock sound.
If you love the stock sound, don't change the mufflers. I got the tips from streetimports.com. I like the way they look too. Just big enough to make people wonder if something's been done. But in my case, they can hear that something's been done before they see my tips.

Mex - i haven't been on in a while and haven't seen your ride progress, but it's looking sweeter than ever. :dblthumb:

I really need to get a tune; I got smoked by a stock Evo. :gotme

You do realize a stock EVO not only has more HP than you do but is also much smaller and lighter, right?

I just ordered all the exhaust parts, instead of the ultra quiet resonators I went with the regular vibrant resonators. I also ordered a 5/16 Plenum Spacer and Injen intake. I will keep posted if anyone is interested.

Good call on going with regular resonators, the ultra quiet are too big. When I put in the new engine, I also put in the plenum spacer. Don't forget to get a tune; your ride will be alot faster. :chuckle:

Yeah I saw you wrote that before so decided to just go with the regular ones and maybe it might be a bit louder which I don't mind :) because I had a v8 straight piped car before my m35. What happened to your engine? Yeah I will probably do the tune a couple of months after I do my exhaust and intake and spacers, got to save up some money :P .. By the way do you have a video of your infiniti with the exhaust driving? I bet it sounds even better with a nice groin to it.

Wanted to ask what exhaust tips did you get? I just got my dynomax exhausts and noticed they have no chrome tips

Got the tips from streetimports.com. Hopefully I'll soon be swapping out the ultra quiet resonators so I can drop my car another inch or so, then get the vibrant mufflers. The Dynomax VT are way too loud and raspy for me. I want the low growl which my engine builder said I'd get with the vibrant mufflers.

I pretty much blew the original motor at 108,000; it was smoking very badly. I had used Mobil 1 synthetic since I bought the car with 24,000 miles on it. I don't think I can blame the oil, but this time around I'm using Amsoil's best synthetic oil and filters. It ain't cheap, but then again, neither was the new engine.

I don't have any video yet.

Always found that saying to be funny. Bearings are meant to spin after all. I know what it means in the case of a car engine though :frown:

These engines do have a problem in getting the oil where it needs to be when at high RPM. The force of the engine spinning above a certain RPM threshold keeps the oil from travelling down its channels and reaching the bearings. On motors that are going to be built out, you need to have custom work done to re-work the way the oil flows in the engine.

It always seems the important information comes just after one needs it. Oh well, lesson learned. On to the next adventure. Really appreciate everyone in this forum; it's been a great ride.

Azeiler, thanks for sharing and keeping us updated with your progress.
How did you catch the problem btw, slow progress or a sudden catastrophic event?

Oh, also... what did you replace the M with?

It started knocking and over a 2-week period it got really bad and then started loosing power. A lot of other stuff was starting to go (windows, door locks, steering, etc.) and the transmission was starting to feel "different" (no pun intended). When you've done this much work to a car, you can feel when things are starting, or about to come apart. That's why I sold it, even though I do miss it.

I got a low-mileage, 02 Tundra while I save up for a lead sled; either a 49-51 Mercury or a Ford Shoebox.
