yeah i plan on keeping it forever. unless it gets wrecked beyond repair somehow.

honestly i don't know. i hope to have all the rust gone by the end of the month/beginning of october. once i get over that hump, it will be a lot easier for everything else to get done.

thanks to all!

alright so here are some updates.

got the bottom quarter panel piece welded up. i tried my best not to warp it, but it still warped a little. not that big of a deal though since that area will require a little bit of bodywork anyways.

Image
Image

how's my welding now? :chuckle:

Image

can't really tell that well from this pic, but rear bumper fitment is like perfectly aligned.

Image

ready to blast the interior.

Image
Image
Image

blasted and treated with metal prep acid.

Image

Image

remember these areas?

BAM!

and this guy:

patches cut out and trimmed down, prepped, and ready to be welded up:

did i forget to mention i got some new parts? :naughty:

picked up an authentic gp sports g-sonic type r rear valance.

Image

AND... i got my latest nissan order ;)

Image

z32 2+2 e-brake cables

Image

fog light kit. came with everything but the switch and directions :/

Image
Image

speaking of switches...

Image

cigarette lighter assembly, door strikers, hood bumpers

Image

hood hinges, transmission shifter boot

Image

all new lock cylinders. before anyone asks, yeah they are all different and each come with a different set of keys. ALL of the packaged sets were discontinued, and this was the only way to get new ones. i'm gonna have to get them all repinned to one key to make everything easier.

Image

picked up this jdm tyte lighted ignition key ring from ebay

Image
Image

z32 e-brake shoe set, front/rear caliper hardware

Image

front s14 dust shields

Image

new door handles (the dull area is just grease from lubing that spring)

Image

zomg new power window switch bezel/door handles (with new passenger switch)

Image

these actually have a texture on them. not like the shiny worn down ones you always see.

Image

new rear 5-lug hubs and expensive z32 bearings with the lip

Image

bunch of random screws/bolts/nuts/clips/plugs/etc

Image

i guess that's it for now. got a little more sandblasting to do. then some welding and painting underneath, and it will be ready for the body shop!

I can promise you that it is not anywhere near a SMALL fortune.

And the car will easily be worth WAY more then 10 Grand when hes done.

I would say at least, 14 Grand with everything but the engine in it.

Tr4nch you better not Ever sell it. And if you one day decide oh i wanna give up on it i will be the first on the list. I would be more then happy to pay that much for that thing Painted with no engine.

Do you plan to race it? or just restore it and collect it? maybe a little bit of both?

Beautiful man, Just beautiful! Keep up the good work!

Are you keeping record of all the part numbers you are ordering?

Ghostdrifter88 wrote:i think you should get a custom title for this great ****.great work man.
if i could get one, it would have to be "insane rust killer" apparently my chassis dolly write up isn't worthy of a custom title so i was thinking if i have time i might do one for how to fix rust the right way

as for the cost of the oem stuff. it's actually not all that bad. only thing i regret getting was the stupid expensive z32 rear bearings with the lip on them. i could have sourced the "other" anchor pins for the e-brake assembly and got the cheap non-lip bearings and saved myself almost $200 oh well.

i was going to get all new glass also but it would have been another $2,300 for everything after the 20% discount i might still just get a new windshield but i'll worry about that later.

and like i said before, i don't plan on ever selling it. my plan for the car is mostly daily driving, only in nice weather of course. i probably won't drive it in the rain anymore, and definitely not in the winter (or at least up until the first snow falls). the only water this car will see is when i wash it haha. and it will be garage kept. i will be doing spirited driving and might do some autocross at the track occasionally just for fun, but that's about it. most likely won't be doing any drifting. i think grip is cooler anyways and yes, i have a huge excel sheet with all the parts i've ordered, and others on there if i need them in the future.

The company I work for does abraisive blasting, Sand, Glass Bead, Alluminum Oxide, steel shot. Ive done them all when we slow down and theres no mechanical work for me to do, and Ive always wondered how a car would turn out if it was blasted, well now Ive found out. Looks great man. Nice project.

Where did you order all your parts from? If you don't mind me asking.

i can't wait to see more on the car. i wish i had the money and a garage to do something like this to my s13, i got lucky on getting a decent chassis tho so if i keep it clean it wont get any rust.
