Whats up nico, been on here for a while and never really introduced my self. Well my name is lakhwinder, yeah try pronouncing it lol, friends call me lucky and i have been lucky lots of times lol. I've always loved the 240s and who hasn't, especially the s13 hatch. And i bought my first 240 a while back, w/o checking it properly, and it has alots of rust on it. So to replace the chassis i looked for a shell and came across a clean one. It was a 93 s13 with lost compression in the 4th cylinder but was auto. No worries :yesnod , thanks to nico i will be doing the 5 spd swap with the rebuild.

Got the new 240 and started doing the rebuild myself, just a OE build. I already have my rebuild kit from ebay, don't worry i checked on ka-t.org and people on there are using the same kit as the one i ordered and it is reliable, except the timing components. I know that my working area wasnt neat but it was my first time so. Well on to the pics...

Thanks to Bill for a good deal on it, still waiting for the trans to arrive tomorrow.
This is how she sits as of now

The arp head, main and rod bolts should arrive by the end of the week.

Well that's it for now, progress is somewhat slow at the moment with my night shift job :frown: but i try to get as much as i can done. Also will be ordering Clevite bearings in couple of days and going to autozone to get the MC and SC.

A little update, even though no one showed any love yet but we took the engine out of the car today. Then I went to Burlington County auto parts to drop the head off to get it pressure tested and cleaned and when i got back in my red hatch. Well the starter just decided to give up on me . So now i gotta get that running again and then tear the engine apart and get it cleaned and get a hone run through the cylinders. SORRY for no pics...

Well the engine is in pieces right now, got the head back from the shop today and this is why the red hatch wouldn't start:

the piece broke off and got stuck with the flywheel, luckily it didn't get any worse.

Well this is my first time going turbo, so i might as well try it on something that's cheaper to find if some thing happens in case. That way I'll know what I'm doing on the rb before hand.

Little update. Got the rings on the pistons and put the connecting rods on. Also cleaned up the block and took as much grease as i could out of the engine bay but still got the underneath left. I was hoping to put the pistons and the block back together tomorrow but it might have to wait until this sat. One of the oil jets was broken so i ordered it from courtesy parts. But they were out of them so they said that i should get the oil jets and my timing chain by friday.

Well the block is all together now, with ARP hardware. Its awaiting the dowel pins for the block to the head and the ones on the front, for the oil pump. All of them have been ordered but they are out of stock as of now :tisk:. The HG is also on back order along with the motor and transmission mounts. I will be painting the block tomorrow, all black, and the valve cover all blue :naughty: .

Thats all for now. Sorry for no pics.

hey man. dont buy a new oil pump just rebuild yours. It's the same damn thing and all the OEM rebuild parts are only 53 dollars.

I painted my first KA black, but I'm painting it silver this time, so I can actually see leaks, if it ever does leak, haha.

Make sure you have all the rod caps on the right way, and the rings facing the right directions, and facing the right side up (N towards the sky) Triple check everything, or this might happen!

As for the oil pump rebuild stuff..here ya go.
-oil pump gears (15020-S13001)
-valve relief regulator ( 15132-S13001)
- oil hat seal (15066-S13007 )

diy-oil-pump-rebuild-t414884.html

can all be had from courtesy parts.

And, how does the gasket set look? I was considering buying it, but I'm pretty concerned about the quality of the valve seals, front seal, rear seal. Does it come with the oil pan gasket? pick up tube gasket? o-ring from block to lower timing cover?

Well I put the rod caps and rings on as it said in the FSM, The rod caps went by lining up the piston numbers on the side. So since this is my first rebuild I REALLY REALLY HOPE that I don't get that knock. :ohno:

Well all of the gaskets, with the exception of the HG, look good so that's why i ordered cometic. Out of everything that came in the rebuild kit, I'm using: pistion's, rings, gaskets not the HG, oil pump, water pump, rear seal, tensioner, guides and that's about it I think. Everything else im getting from either courtesy parts or somewhere else.

If you put them on the same as the FSM you will be fine. That video is the rod caps on BACKWARDS. lol.

Make sure you get your block/head resurfaced to 50RA if you're using cometic. And spray that bish with copper spray

I belive I reused my Cometic MLS gasket seven or eight times. It was in my car from November 2006 until now. My car has been sitting for like three months now. When I made 532whp, I had already reused the gasket probably five times. I just started to have coolant pushing issues on my last run with the car, and I'm not sure if that was even the gasket. I have never had my head resurfaced. Cometic gaskets are good if you use them correctly. I always make sure that my dowels are aligned a certian way and I copper spray the **** out of coolant passages, along with the rest of the gasket. I also use probably an entire can of brakleen when I clean the block/head surface.
^^This guy has a 414WHP KA-T on stock internals.

EDIT: 530WHP on 30 psi.

I'd either get it hot-tanked, or use a can of brake clean.

Well major update, got the car to start up today. It didn't start for one hour cause my dumbass put the fuel lines on backwards lol but it didn't take long to figure it out. I'll have a video up as soon as I can, once I get the little issues fixed and clean up the wiring. As for now I want to take this moment to thank nico for their support and big thanks to Alex, motoman, for answering all my calls lol.... But I'll try to get the pics up by Monday though.

Well heres a crappy quality video i recorded with my cell phone:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3EvFy7Wf64

Well today, dec 13, I started the 240 to let it warm up and it did. But it bogged down and shut off. Now it's not starting at all. I looked at the spark plugs they looked clean. So could it be a weak or bad dizzy or what? Also It's getting fuel.

Also I need help with electrical issues. I need help of the electrical gurus on here. As of now the cabin light doesn't come on, the radio doesn't work and the digital clock doesn't work either, but all the other lights work, the dash lights work fine. The turn signals also don't work. What could be wrong or what should i check?? Oh and i changed the auto ECU to manual ECU.

Well i got a big update. The damn ignition control module was dead, that's why it didn't get spark. But replaced that and it fires right up. Just got couple of things left: gotta fix the timing, need a new coolant resvoir, new wiper blade assembly and i gotta find the goddamn flasher for the turn signals cause they don't work at all!! Since its cold as hell out side, with 6in of snow its gonna wait a while. But as of now i have on the car:
Cirsuit sports Polyurethane Motor and transmission mounts
Nismo thermostate
ARP HD Rod bolts
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs
Cometic .75 thickness HG
Agency Power rad hoses
New OE pistons and rings
King bearings
Megan 4-1 headers
Megan DP
Megan Test pipe
Ebay 3in exhaust w/ 4in tip
Circuit sports V2 short shifter
Spec stage 1 clutch.
