Here's what I know of the story. I'll have to let Greg, Kenny, and Razi fill in the rest of the details...
It's Thursday night. Kenny and Razi are on their way from CA to go to Jenna Bears with us. ETA is around 12 AM to 1 AM. Shortly after midnight, Greg's phone rings. After some serious-sounding discussion he tells me that Kenny is broke down on the side of the road and he has to go get him. Now, at this point, one would think that I would question why in the hell there would be something wrong with Kenny's car when it is fairly new and very well taken care of. However, i am in the midst of trying to complete 5 homework assignments in 24 hours so, I am not really in analysis mode. Fast forward to 4:30-5 AM. I had finished the third assignment and decide to sit down in the chair for a few minutes "just to rest my eyes". Next thing I know, Greg is shaking my arm and saying, "We're here." The guys walk in behind him, I give them hugs, and start to ask what the hell happened. Greg says, "Come here, I need you to help me with something." Confused, I follow him outside and the first thing I see is Kenny's car parked in front of the house, NOT on a trailer. Confused, I walk around the side of the house and there sat the Frontier pulling the trailer with the 620 on it. Lots of, "Oh My God, are you kidding me (s)", hugs, kisses, and dis-beliefs later, I walk up to her. I am so shocked / sleep deprived / excited, I don't know exactly what to do or say. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. She was the last thing on (my) list of all-things-Datsun-to-own. We had been talking about one for a while and what we would do with it. He even showed me pictures of this one and I remember saying to him, "...One day...." I guess there's no day like today, huh?

Anyway, I'll let the guys fill you in on on the details I knew nothing about. ;)

Surprise! That really is a great surprise although I think you would have enjoyed it more at a more reasonable hour lol. Good luck with it and get started right away

btw I think you forgot the 'T' on the end of that engine code

I see what you did there ;)

...and it will be a bit before we get to her. We still have the Dime, the 320, and the Roadster ahead of her. Greg couldn't pass up the chance to get a rust-free body though.

No need. 260hp in a 2200-lb truck (that was designed for 98 hp) will be brutally fast (and torquey).

This gives me a year or so to locate a totalled 2005 VQ40-powered 6-speed Frontier to rudely disassemble for my twisted fantasy. :)

just curious, where do you store all 13 vehicles? I have only 5 and I have to store one at a different place.

Will the 3.3L SC fit on the 4.0?

I know, your right. Too much power would just let the light empty bed spin at 35% throttle. If later down the road you get some good mechanical grip and tires, ^ this is also a valid question.

Im anxious now to see where this goes

The VQ40 is surprisingly quick even in the Frontier and Pathfinder.
It's gonna be mind boggling in the tiny 620.

We stack 'em. :gapteeth:

We have two on the side driveway, four in the garage, four in the driveway, two are at Jason's (one is in the process of being sold), and the A is in Greg's sister's garage. We have had 5 in the garage at once but Greg is working on the Dime so we moved Alice outside so he could move around better.

I've been in traffic with Holli a few times and watched her embarrass some all show, no go fiberglass clad Accord / Celica / J-body even with the weight of our Xterra. Can only imagine what it can do in something skinny.

The more i read, the more I realize I'm gonna need an entire wrecked Frontier / Xterra / Pathfinder.

The 05+ (which were the first 4-liters) all use a canbus wiring setup. Ugh. NOT gonna be easy.

<sigh>

Well, we've got plenty of time to look. If everyone on NICO keeps an eye out for a totalled 05-06 6MT 4.0 truck, maybe we'll get lucky. :)

Why not go standalone ECU?

Definitely a possibility, but I'm almost thinking if I can get the WHOLE truck, I can't see a reason why I couldn't just transfer EVERYTHING over (ignition, gauges, harness, engine, trans, sensors, etc). The engine won't know what it's sitting in. :)

I just read up on the whole can-bus thing, and wow. It's a like a little computer network in a car? Sounds like trouble...

Why not a boys name for the truck. Maybe its time to have a rooster in the hen house.
