Well after waiting for a month to get my LSD in the mail I got it finally after comming home from work at 10pm. I stayed up all night putting it in with a buddy of mine. 1st attempt to drive failed due to the front bushings that hold the LSD in, so I used my old one and it works great, it had snowed all night so we went a lil snow driftin. I am hoping it works well on dry pavement, and tomorrow I am gonna change out the fluids.

Tell you what, the old open diff. didn't want to come out, it was annoying but it didn't hold a flame to my trusty crow-bar.

my LSD is making strange noises, it sqeeks at low RPM and makes a poping sound every now and agine.. anyone know what the reason for this might be? i havnt change the oil in it tho, and its the orignal LSD from nissan (i have hicas) but i do burn out and stuff every once and a while i dunno if that would hurt it...

Nissan usually specs GL-5, but it wouldnt hurt to double check your manual.

Mobil1 GL 5 is among the best and if on a bit of a budget I also like the Valvoline Durablend GL5.

On quantity my Q45 diff takes 1.5 liters and 2 bottle = one diff.I dont know how much smaller your diff capacity is so, if you guys are doing 2 diffs, 3-4 bottles should be ok.

I grabbed some Mobil 1 GL-5 75w90 for 7bucks a quart. Not too bad, Pep boys want 9 bucks.

If you got your LSD from Japan, chances are, it might have a "real" clutch-type LSD in there. Pop the cover open when you drain it, and give it a look-sie.

LSD makes me smile :D. However, LSDs don't do a whole lot when your tires suck and it's wet :(. I hate these tires... I want them to die... but I don't have the cash or the want to replace them properly... Anyway, back to topic, when is a good mileage to change the fluid? I'm pretty sure my car has been running OE fluid for all of it's 39,800-ish miles... oh, and mine's viscous, if that matters... though I think all Nissan ones are... at least the 240's is, right? I'm confusing myself now...

Are you sure the LSD in your Sentra is limited slip? The SE-R Spec V has a helical limited slip diff. It would always get into fights with the front suspension and result in horrific torque-steer. They react instantly (or in the case of some worm-gear designs, before anything happens).

Horrific torque steer... yeah... that sounds very familiar. Yes, I am sure that the LSD on my car is a limited slip. - http://www.se-r.net/about/sent....html and yes, I have the performance package.

ooh. Okay. I thought the SE-R Spec V was the only one with an LSD. I'm fairly sure you have a helical, but you might want to check your manial.

About time. Now you can come out drifting at the meets. Hopefully my project 240 will be done soon. Nick

How well do V-LSDs work if you keep near-stock tire/rims?

Well what do you mean. I put mine in the next day in his garage and noticed a world of difference in the way we are able to truely drift as it was just controlled powerslides before. Not to mention there was a nice little display we put on at the Nico meet in Louisville last Saturday.

VLSD dosen't just help in drag raccing it also helps in drifting. Try doing a 360 with an open diff. and then try with vlsd. You WILL notice the difference.

What kind of LSD do you run in your 89 s13???

He has a point, but he put it in a very bad manner.

Viscous differentials are far from the best... but there is no doubting it is far superior to the open differential.
