Hi nico club i am Michael and im looking to do a lq4 swap for my 1995 240sx! I have done some research and found that this motor is a not a bad option and it can bolt up to the t56. I was most likely doing a gto transmission i dont really know yet though.
So my main problem is what do i need to get my car up and running with a swap. what type of extra parts do i need and what type of things do i need to make or if anyone knows how to make so brackets if the can help me out. Im in Las Vegas Nevada so it probably wont be happening over the summer cause it is hot as hell. But if i can prepare for the winter then that is what i will do :) thank you for all your help!!!

Ah yes, the stout 6.0 iron block gen three sbc.. This block is in my future plans to one day run forced induction.
Anyway!! i don't have ant experience with the lq4 but, being that its basically an iron block ls, hopefully some of the things i have found might be helpful. You'll need an f-body serpentine system because with the truck system it wont fit under the hood. LS intake manifold, tuned ecu, and a few places like sikky.com offer a wiring harness service that takes the ls harness and your Nissan harness and combine them leaving what you need and doing away with what you don't. there are also options to get a complete custom harness for the swap like the harnesses offered from chasebays that aslo offers an optional Dakota Digital converter box that will alow you to use your stock 240sx tach and speedo.. For mounts there are also a few options for pre fabricated mounts that you could choose from like the more affordable hooker kit that uses corvette c5 mounts, or the complete sikky kit (which i recommend) that comes with most of the things that you need to get it in. Search their site a little more n you'll find a lot of nice ls s chassis swap specific parts that make if easy if your willing to throw down the dough... Also if you have a reputable friend you would trust to fab something up for you, that shouldn't be too difficult either. Here's a link that has a ton of useful information about swapping an ls outtowinpahc-s-ls6-t56-s13-5-sponsored- ... 0-180.html
and
ls1-lq4-lq9-swap-t432298.html
Many people have completed this swap many different ways, with all the options becoming available it pretty much comes down to what YOU want to do n how much money your willing to throw at it.

Welcome to Nico!

thank you so much man.
yea i was looking threw the sikky kits and stuff and i heard some good things about them!
The hooker kit uses the corvette motor mounts and they bolt up to the original ka motor mount location?
Thanks for the reply!

Yes sir, the hooker kit includes the brackets that mount to the block, and a t56 crossmember. The bracket bolts straight to the block, n from there you bolt the c5 mount to that bracket with the included hardware n drop em right into the stock location after a bit of grinding or re drilling to the stock chassis mount point to accomodate the larger motor mount bolt. The hooker kit also includes a t56 transmission cross member specifically designed to bolt up the the 240sx stock trans crossmember location using the stock bolts. The mounts recommended by Hooker are Creative steel c5 mounts, and Prothane transmission mount:

The hooker kit using a gto oil pan, is an affordable alternative to the complete sikky kit. I do not recommend using the gto oil pan unless your willing to cut/ reinforce the stock crossmember. Also you'll more than likely need to get an aftermarket baffle kit for the gto pan, and/or an accusump kit to prevent sloshing and oil starvation under high g forces. Although, if I could go back in time I'd probably just bite the bullet n go with the complete sikky kit, because I'm going to be using a lot of their other swap specific parts anyway n I believe certain items are discounted if you had already purchased the complete kit. Especially of you want a more "drop in" swap with minimal modification to the chassis.
I am the master of the run-on sentences, thank you.

Ok I'm talking to a local guy that is going to fab the motor and transmission mounts for me most likely. Which will hopefully keep the price down and he's well respected. For an accusump is there any thing to look for? Is there different types or some tht work better? It's basically like another oil pan or is it more of a oil pressure regulator?

Accusump is basically a separate pressurized cylinder filled with oil. It's like a back-up plan, so if you lose oil pressure the accusump sends the accumulated oil back into the engine n give you some piece of mind getting sideways! As for different types I know you can get them from sikky, and Canton offers accusump usually in three or four quart sizes. As for quality I'm not sure. Here's a link to sikky that will further explain accusump, give you a visual and an idea on pricing.

Also if you read further in outtowinpahc's ls build thread, I'm pretty sure he goes over the accusump install he did on his ls s13.5. Good stuff, I learned a lot from him an his build thread.
