hey guys. my brother needs a new rear passenger caliper for the max. sounds like it is seizing up and sticking to the rotor. where is the best place to get one and there is anything else he would need or to look for. dave in texas?

on the otherhand, i installed my z tube and stillen sway bars today. cant tell to much of a difference with the z tube other than noise, but the sway bars are nice!

OK, I give up. What is a Z tube? And if it's for your infinity, shouldn't it be a "G" tube?

the z tube comes stock on the Nissan Z. its the tube between the throttle body and the MAF. on the G there is a big sound baffle on the tube decreasing the noise at WOT and i believe some air flow. i guess to make the G be more of luxury car than a true sports car like the Z.

Have your brother check here http://www.nissanparts.org/, it's one of our sponsors. If that doesn't work for him, I can see what I can do from my connection. Be sure the rotor checks out ok.

thanks scott for the info. appreciate it. i told him to take it to the dealer first just to see if its something simple first. if i order from one of the sponsors do we/I get a discount. cause i need to order something for the G as well. thanks

these are new slotted brembo rotors and axxis pads along with SS lines that i had neil huffman install right before i gave the car to him. before these were installed i noticed that my rear passenger brake pad was down to the metal and the other three pads still had quite a bit of miles to them. so its really leaning towards the caliper or something with the e-brake i am guessing.

I had my O2 work done today at Collins Nissan. It was a MUCH better experiance than Huffman.I would compare it to the level of service I had when I was taking my Saab to Bluegrass Motor sport.

What a facility! Car museum, restaurant, NISMO products on display in the waiting area... nice place.

They did the TSB service as well as replace the sensor. I only had to pay for the ecu re-programming. I could just be me, but it seems faster.

glad to hear it. wish i would have known that about Collins about a year ago. i was always going to Huffman. if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for for the ECU flash.

Steve: Glad everything worked out for you! It feels faster because you now have more timing advance at WOT. That was one of the protocols on the re-flash IIRC

Mark: I'm sorry I did not respond a little sooner, but I had the same problem on my maxima. It was the result of someone not using the proper castle tool to turn the piston back into the caliper. The rear calipers on the A32&A33 have a sleeved/threaded style caliper/piston setup. If you try to just "press" the piston back in the caliper like you normally would, it strips the threads causing the caliper to stick. It could be something simple like the coil line getting stuck in the sleeve of the parking brake line?

If you look up a part on the link, the list price (almost center of page) is what anyone would pay walking in off of the street. The price to the far right is our cost (probably wholesale). I would imagine if you need to order something, just call and tell them you're a NICO member (compare price on the web page with what they tell you over the phone).

oops,SES light came back again this morning.

I took it back to the dealer. He said that the new program and the new style sensor won't work properly without the pre-cat.He suggested an MIL eliminator for that sensor..

anyone ever used one of these?https://www.casperselectronics..._Code=

The '00 WSP y-pipe removes a pre-cat, right?

If so, you will have to use something to get rid of it. I'll look around for additional products.

Thanks. I have not ordered the MIL eliminator yet. I was going to see if I could find anything locally. There is a shop on broadway I've heard about that has a dyno. Maybe there? As I understand these will fake out the signal back to the computer so it appears the pre-cat is working. Since it is reading a high O2 level, my mixture is probably off too.

I did a lot of searching and it looks like Caspers was the only place that sold anything like what I needed for bypassing that 02 signal.for some models of fords and spec-v's they have components that just plug into the connector between the sensor and the harness. no luck on maximas, I'll have to cut the wires, solder and I guess I'll use shrink tubing to protect it.I guess I'll be installing it christmas week end.

thanks for the info as well Cullen!

My brother took it into the dealer and they said it was the right e-brake line that was causing the problem. they are trying to sell him the whole brake line kit so to speak. meaning, they want to sell him the e-brake cables for the left and right sides and anything that attaches up front for about $300. is it possible to just buy the right side e-brake cable and be done with it. thanks.

on the otherhand, i just had some vinyl put on my lower bumper to break up all the white on the G. i kept seeing it on the S2000s and i liked it. just did vinyl for right now since i can remove it without any damage. thinking about getting it painted matte black after i add some more goodies to the car.let me know what you guys think.

just one more:

You could go to a junk yard to get the one cable. I'm sure Scott will have some good input on whether or not you can buy just one side from the dealer. I'm not sure.

Call a different dealer's parts department, and ask them if the right side is available seperate. Send me an e-mail if you need any help acquiring the part, always glad to help.

Why bother painting it? It looks great and can easily be brought back to stock.I'd leave it the way it is. Kind of "audi" looking. It takes the bulkiness out of the back end. Hmmm... I wonder if it does the same for women? Could be a real money maker.

I just got my 02 sim in the mail today. Way too cold to install it this week end, but next week we are supposed to break 50. It is supposed to splice in between the 02 sensor and the harness connector.Sounds like I'll be under the car some. I sure hope this thing is water tight. Sounds like it will be exposed to all kinds of road dirt and water.

At least on the 4th gen...All of the O2 harnesses plug in either near the top of the motor in the rear passenger side of the engine bay (near strut tower), or the ones in the front should be near the exhaust manifold. It should just be a matter of finding which plug for which sensor.

Cool. I bet that's the case on 5th gen's as well.

Hey everyone: Merry Christmas! Looks like we'll have a white one, and then it melts away starting Sunday. God's perfect timing, eh?

Yes. Merry Christmas to everyone. I am still buried under 2 feet of snow here in Paducah. WE got hit hard. Had a backup for 30 miles on I-24.
