A friend of a friend has an IS300 that he has been modding for the last couple of months. He has the basic CAI, HKS Hiper exhaust, and an AFC to tune it with. The mods I have are in my signature.

We found some empty parts of the port to race around on and after a couple of races, it was pretty obvious that his car was just a bit faster (and that I now need new brake pads). I could hang with him up through third and pull a bit at the end of third, because I think my car was winding out further. Yet through forth up to about 7500 RPM, he started putting space between us.

Luckily though, my mechanic just hooked up some $200 eBay 3inch, mandrel bent exhaust for my car. I also just got a Walbro 255 put in. So next time I take it to the shop, I'll get the exhaust put on and probably up the boost to 10psi or so. With that done, it will be time for some more racing. :D

IS300's are sweet, the only thing i don't like are the tail lights, the interior and ****pit are bad *** as well as the front of the car.

Isn't that 1.2mm headgasket kinda thick? You have probably lost some compression.

the IS300 is actually one of those rare circumstances where america got the better version than the japanese did. The IS300 (aka altezza and IS200) came with a 2 liter 4 cylinder in japan.

Yep, been said. . but. . I'll say it again.. with an anecdote :D

Americans fall for a name, and would NEVER spend that kind of money for a Toyota. The prices aren't really MORE than their Toyota counterparts, and may have a few extras added to 'em. . but overall, not much more.

My uncle, who is into playing the "HA HA I'm rich" game, bought himself an LS430. . he was angered when I told him he had a nice Toyota Celsior lol

That's very true . . and I thank god that this happens sometimes. :D

actually, I'm considering an IS300 later on. . . There's surprinsgly not that many driving around here. . and it's a nice, small, fun to drive car. . I've only driven one 2000, in yellow, (automatic, of course). . but it was a blast. .

2jz-gte in an IS300 is pretty much my wet dream.

I wouldnt say ours is "better." I would rather have a stock turbo to monkey with than spend the money turboing the 2jz. I could probably save my money sell my 240 and buy an IS but I couldnt afford to turbo it. Even with the deal I would get working for Lexus (which I hope to be soon, I am currently in the toyota tech program) I wouldnt have enough money to modify it. I was just saying today that I wish they would bring over the altezza under toyota's name with the standard turbo 4cyl that would be more affordable and could compete with the lancer, sti, and 350z but with a lower starting price say 22-25K, more like the WRX price range.

Did you ever see the video on RacingFlix.com of the turbo IS300 racing the Z06 Corvette? The one where the Lexus grenaded and caught fire? It was pretty cool.

yeah it did, but the sc430 could never be mistaken for a 240, IIRC the old sc came with a choice of 2 engines, a na 2jz ge, and a 4.0 litre supercharged engine, i don't know the enigne code off hand though

Old SC300 had non turbo 2jz, that part is correct. . but the SC400 = 4.0 V8
