Hey guys,

I've gone and lost my only key to my s14

I was wondering if its possible for Nissan to make a new one? If not, you guys got any good ideas on what to do? I am gonna keep searching for it for now.

Do anything but what I did my trunk release stopped working and i just got the car a couple months b4 this incident. Apparently i had tucked my trunk key into my wallet and forgot about it...untill i drilled out my lock to open my tunk(lol) yup my son wanted his bike, i tried to pull it out through the seat but it wouldn't fit and he was driving me nuts..the next day I found the key i'm a dumb*** but it made my son happy and my wife laugh.

Go to the dealer, take your registration and they can make a new from your VIN number.

Dealership won't be able to do it. I think Nissan only keeps a database that goes back 10 years.

Just take out your passenger side tumbler and take it to a locksmith. Costs about 15 dollars for them to make you a new key.

Hey

If you look in your glove-box there is a sticker on the inside that has a code.

Cant remember how many digits it is maybe like 7.

Take it to a reputable locksmith and they should be able to make a key off of this code.

This is what my friend did.

well i know this works for S13's.. but if you have any friends with S14's you could always try their keys. for some strange reason Nissan keys seem to open each others locks ..or can start other nissan cars (of the same model anyway) .. for example.. a few weeks back.. someone came to pick up rims that i sold to him and he left his keys in his s13 hatch. i happened to have my old key from my 91 hatch that was totalled years ago.. IT OPENED HIS DOOR!! it was insane. i dont remember where i read it.. but it worked... didnt start his car.. but opened the doors / trunk. some keys like this might open the door but not start the car.. or even vice versa. worth a shot if you've got a friend with an S14.. (assuming the same trick works) . hell.. my girlfriend's key to her B14 sentra opens the door to my S14...sometimes.. if you jiggle it .

anywhoo gl

yeah, my trunk lock hasn't worked since i bought it...and i'm too lazy to replace. but a buddy of mine has a civic hatch with the entire ignition just hanging we use a screw driver to start it, we got pulled over one day. that was fun to explain.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE TUMBLER

there is a bolt on it that I cant access strait on with a socket wrench, because the opening in the door panel is at an angle to it... hm

I am going to figure it out... certainly, its worth saving 50 bux.

it costs 75 if they have to go out to the car.

I assume its the same for the coupe and s14. When i needed a key made because my key broke. I just took the lock off the trunk/hatch. Paid a locksmith like $10. **** messing with my door panel and all that. It will make life alot easier, believe me.

i had an s14 a while back tha i got without a key, i hired a locksmith to come make a new one, he showed me where the keycode is.

passenger door under the doorpanel (usually an embossed sticker or embossed into the door, might be on the inside, it should be a 6 digit number ranging from 1-6, this denotes the depth of the cut and the location the number in the sequence corresponds to the location on the key)

take the number to a locksmith and they should be able to cut you a key. iirc that number is a code for the ignition cylinder, i wouldnt use a lock cylinder to make a key as over time the locks will wear out more than the ign cylinder from use (as does they key) and you might not get an accurate cut with a worn lock. just my .02

who the hell relys on one key? if you buy a car with only one key, make copies the first day. lots of info posted on how to make replacements, get on it.

My worn s13 key can open my 240, my datsun 210, my moms '95 pathfinder and open/start my friends 300zx.

no its not... shut up

I have a 90 coupe. and there are no ID numbers to identify our keys so the only solution was to take out the passenger door lock. (im told the passenger side lock is a better.. maybe because of less wear)

for an s13 this is how it works... I did this in 8 minutes. while a friend was waiting for me outside.

- remove the door panel, - peal part of the plastic out the way. - put a 10mm socket unto the two nuts that hold the lock in place. you'll have to pull one of the rubber plugs off the door to reach the rear most nut. - pop off one metal rod that attached to the lock, (rorate the green plastic hub that holds it - sideways, its fragile look at it before applying to much force, its quick and easy if you can see it.)- now you can twist the whole handle casing out and reveal the lock.- unwind the metal wire around the lock and it slides off.

15$ at the lock smith and your good.

I didnt read the rest of the tread but I remember with the 510 we got a new lock cyl from the Jyard. Needed a key so we took it to a lock smith. Theres a number stamped on the side and he made a key for it.

I still need to do this for my S13 cause I snapped the tip of my key off in the ignition and was rollin around completly keyless for months. Currently I cant lock my doors cause my ignition key is from another car and I dont have the orig keys for my car!!!! eyeks!
