see if you can find a complete part out on here and buy the ignition and door locks if its possible to switch ignitions out. I did this to my doors so I could lock them and unlock with a key.

IT OPENED HIS DOOR!! it was insane. i dont remember where i read it.. but it worked... didnt start his car.. but opened the doors / trunk. some keys like this might open the door but not start the car.. or even vice versa. worth a shot if you've got a friend with an S14.. (assuming the same trick works) . hell.. my girlfriend's key to her B14 sentra opens the door to my S14...sometimes.. if you jiggle it .

anywhoo gl
LOL, my bro had an S10 Xtreme back in like 03 that he totaled, and we took his key out to see if it would work in mine and what the hell do you know, it does. lol

His truck was an '99, mines an '01, pretty ****ty if you ask me. lol

no its not... shut up

I have a 90 coupe. and there are no ID numbers to identify our keys so the only solution was to take out the passenger door lock. (im told the passenger side lock is a better.. maybe because of less wear)

for an s13 this is how it works... I did this in 8 minutes. while a friend was waiting for me outside.

- remove the door panel, - peal part of the plastic out the way. - put a 10mm socket unto the two nuts that hold the lock in place. you'll have to pull one of the rubber plugs off the door to reach the rear most nut. - pop off one metal rod that attached to the lock, (rorate the green plastic hub that holds it - sideways, its fragile look at it before applying to much force, its quick and easy if you can see it.)- now you can twist the whole handle casing out and reveal the lock.- unwind the metal wire around the lock and it slides off.

15$ at the lock smith and your good.
Sounds like too much work, i have an 89....
PervyDrifter wrote:I assume its the same for the coupe and s14. When i needed a key made because my key broke. I just took the lock off the trunk/hatch. Paid a locksmith like $10. **** messing with my door panel and all that. It will make life alot easier, believe me.
-open trunk/hatch-pull open inspection door on interior or take it off in like 2 seconds-I think 3 bolts are holding in the lock, undo them,-pop the lock-take it to lock smith

Took like 3 mins

I think thats correct, And also if the original dealership that sold the car didnt enter the key # in the system the only other place it was with the factory paperwork, and you would be surprised how many times I ran into that problem when I worked in the parts dept at the Nissan dealership.

you guys could make photo copies of the keys also so that way you have an outline of the key i heard that locksmiths can make keys from that and taking a piece of paper is easier than pulling out a lock.

but he lost the key

umm, remove the plastic that covers your steering column so that you can see the ignition switch. remove the screw on the back, where the connectors and wires go.you'll see a flat slot, introduce a flat head screw driver. turn on the car go to a locksmith and theyll do the rest, without you pulling the lock

Just pull off the passenger side tumbler and take it to the locksmith. It's very easy. If you can't do that you're a jackass.

Pretty soon people are going to want a writeup on how to start a car.

You don't have to be mechanically inclined to do this. It is one of the easiest things to do. All you need is basic tools and eyeballs to see how to do it.

Wow you sound like the douchebag to me. I wasn't actually calling anyone a jackass. It's called sarcasm.

I have to disagree with you that is one of the easiest things to do! AND ur so called "sarcasm" is of no added value to this or any thread.

Just take out your passenger side tumbler and take it to a locksmith. Costs about 15 dollars for them to make you a new key.
If you would have read earlier in this thread you would have seen that I did contribute. If you don't realize that then you're a jackass.

I always kind of wanted to make a box with 3 switches on it, the first switch is like acc, the 2nd switch is on, and the 3rd would be a push button start. you would remove the ignition switch, and just make it a 4 pin molex, or 6, 8 pin, however much, and make it work that way..

would be kinda cool i think!

I think you mean lock smith, I don't think he wants a sword made.

If you call a lock smith, you can get him to come to you likely come to you for a hefty price. I had this done to a lock at work, he drove to use. It was like... 98.00 total, I think?

Hello everyone. I have an 89 240SX. I have a Nissan key I just bought. I am trying to find the code the dealer needs to cut it. How do I find this code? Thank you.
