I suggest you put some pressure on your dealer, by at least showing them the problem (it can be duplicated, just by shifting around in your seat), and asking that they (1) acknowledge the problem, and (2) either do their best to fix it (which won't work, but which will cause them to be more aware of the problem), or make Nissan aware that they have a customer who is unhappy with his new 3.5. The more noise, the sooner they will have to do something to make their customers "completely satisfied."

In addition, if you take it in for service, you will have written evidence that you complained about it out of the chute (for warranty purposes, etc.)

BTW, if they say that this is normal, or express doubt about whether there is widespread dissatisfaction brewing, you might refer them to this post; people from New York to California and points in between have weighed in on this.

Any update on this one? I just bought a 2008 3.5SE sedan with power seats, and sure enough the driver side seat is shifting around. Tjmutlow? Dmiglia? Any resolution to the problem?

If one of you guys could post your experience, that would really help the rest of us get this fixed....

there is a tsb for this problem http://www.nissan-techinfo.com...55286 but those that had this tsb performed on their cars report that problem comes back after some time. good luck.

Well, OK, here we are, some time later. I had the factory fix applied, it made it better temporarily, but the problem returned. Then, a tech at the dealership applied, with my approval, an idea he had, involving screwing the seat to the rails. This also worked, for about 4 months, but now the problem has returned again. It's obviously a design flaw, and I'm beginning to believe that we all just have to live with it. I do intend to let Nissan know, however, that when I'm looking for another car, I will go elsewhere than Nissan. For a car this expensive, this is not right. Not the biggest problem, but not right.

Anybody else have any new input on this?

Same deal here. Here are my repair attempts:

1 week (after purchase): Take it in. Dealer "can not duplicate" and just tightens bolts.

2 weeks: Take it back in armed with TSB from NICO. Dealer installs fix

3 months: Move to SF. Take to another dealer. Dealer discovers first shop overtorqued/crossthreaded bolts on seat rail. Orders replacement parts and installs new TSB kit

3months+a week: Take it to another dealer in SF. They check the seat and everything is tight apparently. (also had my CVT replaced at this time.)

I'm seriously thinking this car was sent from hell (Canton OH) by the deveil (Nissan) to piss me off.

Yeah, 1125, it's annoying, distracting, and irritating too! But it's pretty clear to me that Nissan has decided that it would be just too expensive to devise and apply a real fix, which would probably involve a redesign and replacement of the entire seat undercarriage. Just be sure to let both the dealer and the district rep know, in writing, that Nissan's inadequate response to this problem keeps you from being "completely satisfied," and will be considered next time you're car shopping. Other than that, I don't know what else to do.

I even considered having a private concern take a crack at fixing it. However, it's still under warranty, and even though Nissan says it is safe from the possibility of coming loose in an accident, I don't want to take the chance that they could disclaim responsibility if the unthinkable happens.
