i rarely use kazaa lite. I use soulseek mostly. I love it. The riaa wouldn't have this problem if the prices were not out of this world. it simple economics. The lower the price the more people will buy.

There is this fire wall that i have that has a list of the RiAA IP's And you can update it almost everyday with new IP's.Keeps them from connecting to your computer but nothin is a 100 percent safe except not using kazaa

Not a bad idea.

Another good program to download with is WinMX, but I dunno if it's being watched, or even what network it uses. But, it's pretty nice for downloading.

http://www.methlabs.org/methlabs.htmYou could try Peer Guardian... I use that. Edit: looks like you posted the link already, oh well, whatever.

Remember though, nothing is safe. And I am pretty sure that the RIAA is running through all the major and minor networks. I was using bittorrent for a while, but they can still monitor that and Adobe sued people using it for illegally sharing Photoshop or something. Bottom line, if you want to be 100% safe, don't download "illegally". Doesn't matter if you agree with it, the reality is that the RIAA is getting away with this for now so you are at risk if you download. NOTHING is safe. You can also try using iTunes, which is pretty cool. I've heard good things about it, and its worth encouraging the music industry to look into it. $9.99 per CD is decent too.Personally, I use Shareaza right now. It's decent, but not great. What's good is it connects you to the eDonkey, Gnutella and Gnutella2 networks. But I'm sure the RIAA monitors all of those too. Good luck guys :)

just use kazaa lite guys and stop getting all worried.. Sides kazaa is the best and can get most kinds of media and is teh most popualr which means more chances youll get the file ur looking for. i downloaded +200 songs last month (in 1 day) off kazaa lite and i havent recieved any court summons as of yet i think theyre just bsing us with teh media and trying to scare us into not using kazaa.

posting again:

man i did a report/debate over this whole friggin thing just last semester. we had the senator and a RIAA rep and some other industry names come down and do a panel. i had all kinds of info, and arguments to throw at them. they started with the same usual BS and when we [the students] started talking, we were disproving some of their points. they contradicted themselves a lot and before we really destroyed them they called the whole thing off and walked out. bunch of pu$$ies.. i know all the facts, and they know they're just lying and twisting things around. but they dont want anyone to really find out whats going on.they're cracking down on people UPLOADING mysic more than downloading. thing is they cant get you unless their lables own the rights. i download a lot of trance music, and usually they have their own lables or are independent, so they cant touch you for that. and so long as you dont share as much as you download you should be ok. but they really are starting to crack down and they will come for you if you push it.

OMG, How much is the RIAA spending on sueing people. They cant be getting that much money, for the people setaling out of court. If i get sued I'll keep the suit in the corts for ever so they have to spend a lot to get any thing for me.

Edit: This is form C-NET. "The campaign to date has yielded 382 lawsuits and 220 settlements averaging close to $3,000 apiece." Ok 3g's apiece, thats not much cash.
