I noticed this for the first time last night as well after I posted the picture. I think they look better as well.

Picked up my new car yesterday. Love it. This morning the car wouldn't start. Dead battery. Before purchasing I had seen issues presented on here of this happening to people. It looks like the OEM battery but how can I tell for sure? I'm going to contact the dealership I bought it from about this. If they aren't going to replace it what battery do you recommend? I have seen people suggest optima's and then people saying they aren't what they used to be. Also seen recommendations on interstate megatron.

Awesome to hear you are liking the car. :dblthumb: And of course it sucks to hear that the battery already died on you.

You can read the two main battery discussions I know about here:

Thanks for the information. Triple A came and put a battery pack on it. Lights all came on inside and went to try and start the car and the key system light came on and the car would not start. Had to have the car towed to an Infiniti dealership to have the keys reprogrammed. To say I am more than annoyed is true. Having them load test the battery as well. I called the guy who sold it to me and he was like "oh yeah I forgot to tell you, you need to turn off the keyless entry when you lock the car.." What does that even mean? What's the point of having keyless entry if you have to turn it off? Does he know what's he's talking about? Hopefully battery and key reprogrammed is all it needs and I can get it back today.

This is definitely not normal. My battery killed over once and has gone dead multiple times while I do various work on it. This has never happened.

Update:
Went and picked up the car from the Infiniti dealer Saturday. They ran diagnostics and keep coming back as low voltage. Checked the alternator and that's all good. Loaded tested the battery and it was junk. They replaced the battery as well as the battery in the key fob. The keys did not need to be reprogrammed, so I guess that's why the car wouldn't start because the battery in the key fob was dead in addition to the car battery being junk. He said next time if that ever happens to use the key fob to push down the start button and that should create enough continuity between the car and the key to start it up. Hope it never comes to that. I wish my car just came with the additional physical key slot. Faxing over my bill from Infiniti to the dealer I bought the car from. Will see how reputable this dealer turns out to be.
Now that I think I'll be keeping the car I'm going to get some quotes on the Infiniti extended warranty. I know its going to be a little higher priced being a 2011 with 65k, but with all the electronics in these cars I think I want that peace of mind. I have until May to decide since the cars build date was 05/10.

This just sounds like a dead battery and FOB. i do not think there are any other underlying issues. if that was the original OEM battery you made it pretty far. i just changed mine probably 4 months ago on my 2011 and it wasnt completely dead yet but failing tests.

What the dealer told you to do was correct. they replaced the key fob reader in the Ms with touching it against the start button instead of a dedicated slot down by the driverside door. if you look in the manual the procedure to start the car with a dead FOB is detailed in there.

Extended warranty is going to be expensive and probably not worth it. was Infiniti able to pull your service history? im at 84k right now and no issues whatsoever. these are pretty reliable cars.

I didn't even think to ask about my service history and they didn't mention it when I was at the service station. Between the frustration of having to drive 90 minutes to get a car I spent 8 hours driving to get (two trips of two hours each way) and the relief of finally getting the car back that question wasn't one on my mind. Can I just call an Infiniti service center and ask them to run my service history if I just give them my VIN and information over the phone? I know they are pretty reliable cars and hope I came across one that will follow in that reputation. Just trying to decide whether that peace of mind is worth it or not. I take care of my vehicles, and if anything ever did pop up I could afford the repairs. And for most things I have a garage and knowledge to do most repairs myself minus any of the electronics, which is what worries me the most with these cars and of all new cars today.
