Wife looking at upgrading from Murano for more room. Came across a local '06 QX56 with 57k miles.

Anything to know or look for?

Also what are aux and/or iPod options for it?

brake drums, manifolds, rust from the snow/salt, HVAC (lines run under the chassis for the rear and salt/sludge can get in there and put a hole in the lines)

manifolds are the biggest thing.

would rather you look at a 2008.

there is an ipod plug that goes inside the glove box i think. search for armada ipod kit in addition to qx56 ipod kit in google (armada and 2004-2010 q are the same ride). they are rare but can be found.

i would also look at after market audio video if you want more options in that area.

So it has rear drums? That sucks.

This one is just hard for her to pass up due to price (and wanting QX over the Armada).

She has an ipod kit in her Murano, hoping it might work for the QX.

Also comes down to if they will work with the price more, its about the middle of KBB pricing right now, would rather it be about $2k lower.

Everything I see in research is saying 4 wheel disc brakes, I'm confused now.

We ended up gettin it. All seems good. Very well maintained. Wife fell in love with it.

I've had good luck with used low mileage older infinitis. So we should get go value out of this for $20k.

Any advice on if or where the sat radio stuff would be located so I can see if the Murano Nissan iPod connector would work?

the XM radio box is under the dash. closer to the side where the accelerator pedal is. its obvious to spot ASSuming the car has it.

i dont see why the murano ipod adapter would not work. i think on the armadas/q's of those years, the ipod harness connection is over by the glove box. a quick google search image will shed more light.

Did the google image search, nothing really helpful.

I'll have to poke around under the dash a while I guess.

look at 2007 or 2008 or 2006 armada for the images of the sat radio placement.

i know of a major nissan website that i am active on that has this same discussion. the photos are out there as i have seen them.

or go to x.infinitihelp.com and get the 2006 service manual. Boom. Done.

3 second google search:

can't post the direct link but this link should be clickable to a google image. from there, click on "visit page" to see the install.

Figured the OEM unit would be back behind that meal plate somewhere. Just not sure what all will need to be removed to get to the plug port.

just remove the plastic finisher and you can reach up under there.

if you DO have the sat box, you should see it once the dash finisher has been removed.

not a difficult thing to get to. many people have installed these, removed these over the years, as I have read about this on other forums...

Could not find it. Only the Bose amplifier and couple other boxes but nothing that looks like sat radio. Wonder if it would under passenger seat with navigation?

ASSuming the previous owner did not alter anything, it should be under the dash as depicted in the earlier photos referenced to here.

its an obvious box. look again for any harnesses that are not connected/taped to the wiring bundle...

Yeah, more research needed. I may have to take it to the dealership for a cruise control issue and may ask while there.

Didn't see anything hanging under there.

Yeah, I looked at the service manual, only saw wiring diagrams nothing for placement.

I'll look again next weekend. Assume it has to have the Sat Radio box somewhere, as when you hit Radio button Sirius comes up.

The Murano only required a single cord to plug into the Sat Radio box. Looks like the QX may require a bigger kit to put the box in to plug in the ipod wire.

I'll keep investigating. And I'll ask the service guys at Infiniti when we take it in for the cruise control issue.

should show up as XM not sirius...

ebay auctions of the xm radio:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-INFINITI ... 20fa354fd4

just for photos of the box

http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_nkw=N ... 1218663859

FYI info in this thread may be of some value:

exchanging-oem-radio-for-a-dealer-remov ... 86917.html

not the same radio thats in the Q, but the harness location/ports on the back of the radio should give you a good idea of where to start the trace of the sat radio harness.

Yeah, looked through that one, don't see anything like that in her's. Saw the body module black box and the bose amp behind it, but that's it. I'll keep looking. May take the glove box out to see if anything is over there.

Made her stop before she pulled into the garage to get some pics finally.

Weird that it is Sirius, so someone must have added it.

I'm dropping it off Monday at dealership and will ask some questions.

well it is a 2006 and it could have been that Sirius and XM were separate companies then. eventually XM bought out Sirius and nissan installed XM radios in their rides moving forward, so i dont think its weird.

this may also seem to suggest it may be in a different spot, however i find that unlikely...

anyway, thanks for the follow up.. keep the class informed... ;-)

Cruise buttons bad (maybe spiral cable as well), trying to replace buttons first ($340 at local dealer, but got from ebay through a dealer for $213).

Local dealer has a custom shop for accessories, they can order an ipod kit, its only about $80, but would have to be wired into rear of radio ($180 labor). So holding off on ipod for now, may just talk her into a FM transmitter.
