Im getting into the guts of my redtop and looking for some opinions on how my bearings look. So far everything inside the motor has been looking pretty decent but Ive never done this before, so I need some experienced eyes.

Here are the mains

half of the rod brgs

Thrust washers (the scratches are my fault, not from the crank or anything)

I thought the bearing would be worn a little more evenly, instead there are shiny "patches".

Im going to replace them with acl race bearings, but looking online there seems to be bearings for the sr20de/sr20det and bearings just for the turbo. Nobody uses actual part numbers so I cant cross ref, is there a difference between the de and det bearings?

The bearings look ok.Just a little wear. I know the rod bearings are the same. Question: can you get a pic of the saddles for the main bearings? I just wanted to see if your block has the saddles grooved for extra oiling. Thanks

even if they look fine replace the bearings. Save some work for you in the long run.

Just looking at them wont tell you much. Learn how to use a micrometer, you will learn all sorts of nasty secrets your engine was hiding.

Thanks for all the responses!

FlatBlackIan, Ill get the mike on them and see what I come up with.

supremeS14, Im not sure what you're looking for, are the saddles the top half (ie the actual block) or the bottom half? With the bearings out?

The block. Newer sr20det's have these and some older sr's:This is from maz works:We CNC machine the main journals to accept the ACL race bearing w/ the extra oil holes. This proveds a path for the oil to pass through the extra holes in the bearing inturn providing more oil to the rod bearings. A must in high hp and high rpm motors.

You can use 5 hole bearings to take advantage of this groove if you have it

I looked at the block, and no groove

here is ACL's website location for their bearing catalogue http://www.aclperformance.com....s.htm

and their nissan index http://www.aclperformance.com....s.htm

According to their nissan engine index, they list the bearings for sr20de and det as the same, the GTiR is different (but the same as the VG20-ET)

So much for turbo bearings are different, such as these guys http://cgi.ebay.ca/ACL-Race-Be...wItem

Not the pistons. They are trimmed for the piston oil sprayers. Which the de's dont have as well.
