Well this is pretty much self explanitary. went inside mall, come out and cant find keys, find them laying on the seat. but how i unlocked my car is something. after standing there for about 5 min with a dumb look on my face i noticed the antenna. skrewed that sucker off, and shoved it behind the window. luckily my pass. door hangs just a little(wistles on highway) there was plenty of room to hit the unlock button. so now if any of you dudes are in a jam, brag that antenna.

HA. My doors close just fine, but its not that easy when you have good working doors. You gotta use a hanger and bend that sucker all crazy to get the damn thing. I heard of pocket slim jims though. Then i could have any car i want, and stop worrying about where to get car parts anymore.

Hardly.

I'm sure everybody already knows that 240s are pretty easy to break into.

Slim jims make it easy for anyone to use. If its constructed right it damn near finds the locking mechanism on its own. Clothes hangers take a littel work to figure out :-)

My brother locked us out at school last year.

The dean brought one of those slim jims, and we were on our merry way a few minutes later.

Kinda scary to think about....

Is anyone scared about how simple it is to break into a 240?

I HATE when there is no door sill around the window, how it is set up on the 240 makes it WAY to easy to break into...I can do it in less than 3 minutes, and I can't do anything in a timely matter...for a real theif snatching my whole car would probably take less than a minute.

i wanna try breaking into my 240....it doesn't have power locks...so i would get a hangar and put it through the top part of the window where the window and the rubber thing meet right? and then just try to unlock it from there? well i'm gonna go try it out and see what happens

uhh but will my window break or shatter?

At least the starter is kinda hard to get to. Not sure how easy it is to get into the steering comun though.

If you don't have power locks you can bend a close hanger and hook the door latch, but its kinda a PITA. You can pull the window out pretty far at the corner without it breaking. I have locked myself out of my car too many times.

If youre really worried abotu someone stealing your whole car lock your steering column...the wheel lock is incredibly hard to get off without tools and some prior knowlege of the one on the 240. And dont worry, its just as easy to get into early 90s cars with window frames as it is without frames. Instead of going for the lock button or door handle you go for the lock tab arm down inside the door with a coathanger. Its butter on almost all early 90s cars.

If a thief wants in, they will get in. A small piece of the ceramic part of a spark plug will break a window very quickly with very little noise. The glass hitting the ground makes more noise. 3 minutes is way too ong for a thief anyways. They should be long gone with your stereo or car within 3 minutes. It's not like thieves care about your window.

I locked myself out of my car so many times that I finally just went and had the key duplicated for a couple bucks, and put it in a pocket of my wallet. =)

also, if you're really worried about security, get an alarm system. I got a crime guard 745i3 from crutchfield. $230 total with the extra starter harness, took me a while to install it but on the bright side i now know much more about my car's electronic system. =)

it's already saved my *** at least once, it has a shock sensor, glass break sensor, and a motion sensor (yes, i leave my windows down all the way in parking lots). oh, and did i mention keyless entry? yay =D

dude, i drove a tow truck for a LIVING, which involves lockouts. older nissans are a bit easier, but post 95 and all infinitis cannot be opened with a slim jim, you need a window wedge and a long bar, or a wondertool, which goes in one side of the window, under it, up the other side, and operates the power lock button or the lock flip.

i have never been unable to open a car. the police have slim jims and if they were able to open every car, i wouldnt have to know how to break into cars. get a slim jim and a new toyota and if you can open it in under 10 minutes ill personally cogradulate you.

also, it takes an amount of skill to open anything other than a ford with a slim jim. its not down, slide, lift, as some seem to believe.

yeah, i stopped towing about a month ago, because i got a little tired of changing every dolt's flat tire. i still have my towing license, so i might get back into it, because i dont make as much money now, but i still have computer certification courses i need to finish, so im in sort of a strange position right now, trying to figure out what i want to do for the next few years.

but back to the subject, anybody can buy a slim jim for $10, but i have a lockout set that runs $150 because anybody in the business can tell you that a slim jim has limited uses when it comes to new cars. i have a manual for cars, but i dont use it because there not entirely accurate, and i have enough experience that i know how to open any car off the top of my head. im not gonna list a procedure for every car, but if you have something you need help with, i have no problem helping out.

oops, almost forgot, the average person cannot buy a professional lockout kit.

When I got my car, I got two keys with it. One key had the blackend, and the other was just a silver key.

I figured the black-end key was the engine key and the other wasfor door/trunk. So I had both of them copied just in case. I laterrealized the 240 has one key for EVERYTHING. Doh.

So now, I have 4 keys. Two sit in my house, one in my wallet(which I always have with me) and the other is just my day-to-daycar key.

I can NEVAR be locked out. :ylsuper

You can actually buy these little boxes that have a magnet on oneside. And you simply put your key in it and stick this boxsomewhere under your car, where you'd suspect no one to look.

I first learned about such thing when some customer came to mewhile I was at work and told me she locked her self out and thatthere was a spare under her rear bumper in a small box.

Interesting idea...

I think since the keys from most 240s will open and most of the time start the car. To bad none of your friends were around with their 240 keys.
