This shop in my area said they wont touch a eManage for tuning. I asked why and I got some excuses about the altitiude making it act funny, something about it not having a IAT sensor, pressure sensors, and some other stuff. They recommended an SAFC, Map2ECU, or AEM unit instead.

It kinda pissed me off since I already spent the money on it and the explination they gave me didn't seem strong enough (ex. I can buy the extra sensors). Is there some validity to what they are saying?

They're doing you a favor

Get a Rom TUne, or get a Real Standalone

with that Said, for them to suggest an SAFC would make me find a new tuner.

Rom tune, I assume your talking about the ECU "chip". Why does the though of an SAFC bother you?

Strange they'd say drop the emanage and get SAFC. I don't know anything about E-Manage but I don't see SAFC being much better.

Sorry man.

If there was such thing as a sarcastic car devil, he'd make everyone install his death box (SAFC).

It's ****in junk. It interrupts MAF voltage and other voodoo stuff. Waste of time, and 9/10 cars with it blow up or are just slow.

Back in the day they were our only option, but now with rom tunes and real managment becomming affordable, there is no reason for the safc.

Take 5 minutes of your day, and type in SAFC in this forum, Fresh Alloy, and Zilvi a....you'll see what I mean

Just get a rom tune and be done. Bam, plug in, turn car on, do big burnouts.

In my case I have a Apexi SAFC Neo and my ECU is tuned by Enthalpy. I also have a wide band. I plan on upgrading to stand alone soon once I upgrade my turbo but I can't afford to have this thing blow on me again. How Sh*tty are these SAFC's to run with my set-up? Thanks

Some people have experienced small issues with rom tunes, idle problems, and the like.

People use the SAFC to fine tune, although I would believe that its just a bandaid. I would be more inclined to blame hardware before software.

You just became my Nico hero for the night

9/10 cars I see with 'junk rom tuns/****ty jwt/crappy enthalpy' issues, have vacuum leaks, incorrect timing, or a combination of stupid **** they messed up.

so who do you recommend for a rom tune? It seems like you dont approve of jwt or enthalpy. I certainly agree with your logic of interupting a signal to the ecu as bad news.

JWT and Enthalpy are both great rom tuners, but some people have problems with them, not because the tune is bad, but because they have other issues with the engine. Many people jump to the conclusion that the tune is the problem when in fact it is not, it has become a scapegoat of sorts.

I LOVE JWT and Enthalpy.

Those 2 are the only people I'd ever suggest for cars this side of a 400+ hp setup...
