This thread was inspired by a similar thread that I saw on the Mercedeshop forum that I also browse.

Some little details I love on my 92 Q are:

- The cashmire (like) headliner - LOVE this detail, makes the car feel so cozy and posh. Wish I had this in my 400e.

- The door handles - posted earlier about this - but again a great detail that really ads to the "experience" of the car.

- The clock - I like the white faced ones even more. Again a very "interior design" touch.

J30 - Love the overall design of the dash and center consol. Also LOVE the little roof lamp that illumiates the center consol - what a cool detail!

I like everything about the car that you mentioned. Every lady that has been in my car has commented about the headliner. Its nice.

Another thing that I really like is the pearl paint. Compare it to the same color mazda 929 you'll know what I am talking about. It has a certain depth about it that proclaims class and attention to detail.

I like the fact that the front passenger has so much space. One guy said that it felt like a space ship because it had so much space.

G20 in trunk there a little side compartment with an infiniti logo on it

on the back window it says INFINITI on the bottom

on every Infiniti there a little tag on the airbox that tells you how much HP and torque you have

I'm with longrunQ about the paint. I love the way it's deeper and glossier than almost any other car around it. The only paint jobs I've consistently noticed to be nicer have been on late-model Mercs, but absolutely no other car I've seen of the same age comes close. My father, who visits only once a year or so, recently asked me if I had the car painted. Even next to brand new $40-50k SUVs, it's pretty obvious which vehicle has the better finish.

I like the overall quality. A 9+ year old car that looks great today and makes me feel like I paid $35K

Build quality is better than most cars today. Quiet ride. Thick skin to help prevent most dings. The fact that I still look back on the car when I am walking away.

Love for my Q:The sound that you get from flooring the Q. It's beautiful. Like a Ferrari V12, or the electrical whine of a watercooled Porsche, it's unmistakable. The entry-memory of the seat and steering wheel. The contour of the dash. The profile of the car- long, square, low. Like a BMW 7, or even back to a Maserati Quattroporte, it's just a great shape. Those are just a few things.

Love for my I:The way it looks at night- xenons, white/blue glow of the clock, and the bright white guages. It really shines at night. The sunshadeThe thick five-star wheels- love those thingsThe pop-up armrestBrushed aluminum plate around the shift gate

Things I love about my Q??

The sunroof is so big that I have considered installing ejection mechanisms under all the seats (except mine of course).

The hood doesn't obstruct my vision of the road. I have owned old V8 caddies and buicks for awhile; even my V6 Reatta has this problem. It felt like there was a surfboard sticking straight out from my steering wheel.

The stock Bose system thumps.

My 8-9 year old leather seats looks and smells brand new.

Pseudo-cup holders dissuade people from drinking in the Q.

Lastly, the 240 basturds don't have one!!

I love the shape of the wheelwell lips (very few cars have attractive "lips").

I really like the feel of the headrest - Like a comfy pillow.

I, too, dig the size of the moonroof. And the one-touch window control.

I like the way it's a little bit "raked" - Sits lower in the front. When I park it, I still turn the front wheels 1/2 turn and admire the aggressive stance.

I love the handpainted pinstripes - Subtle and precise.

Finally, I really really love the way the tail steps out a foot or so when I launch it hard from a dead stop, then it snaps right in line.

Sight down the side of a first generation Q from the rear. Yeah, the rear tailights, bumper and fascia are a terrific design. Get closer and sight down the curve of the greenhouse to the body, then notice the shoulder down to the high break line on the side of the body. There are visual delights like this every where when you look.

I have mentioned the greenhouse from the side elevation before.

This car makes the Lexus LS look like an upside-down tub.

I saw the G35 Coupe at the dealer yesterday, and I have to say it lacks this character when viewed from this rear angle. The transition from roof line to shoulder to body at the rear is too indistinct. Still, a very nice car, but one that looks better in the photgraphs than in real life.

Do like the M45, though, especially in a dark color. Looks like it is cut from a billet. When people complain about the back seat room in this car, they just don't understand its purpose. Might drive one next time.

I'll have to squeeze it in between getting caught up on my old "Boy's Life" magazines.

What about the sunvisors retracting at high speeds??

And yeah qship, that key is as heavy as an elephant tusk. Luxury!!

yes. The auto door to the bose controls is nice. One of the reasons why I will not put an after market system in that bad boy.

I like the fact that the q came with cigarette lighters and ashtrays in both rear doors, and the "glove" compartment in the back.

And I like the fact that the rear passengers have reading lights

How could I have forgotten the door thingy on the stereo! This was one of the first WOW things I noticed when I first test drove a Q years ago. Great posts all! Makes me wish I had another Q instead of my 400e :(

That's why my car is called The Mothership. :rolleyes

I love so many things... the badge in front, the elegant lines (sorry, but G35 sedan and coupe are clunky by comparison), the rear end, the subtle clock..... but most of all I love the design of the seats, how they mimmick the shape of the human body (the spine, the butt crack). In grey they look like shark's skin (or like an alien's skin).

Just like nice shoes, the larger the pieces of leather, the better.

I read somewhere in the initial launch materials that they designed the q key to be unique and to elicit questions and resulting conversations about the key and car with its new owner and anyone who sees that unique lump of titanium!
