If your car is 25 years or older, the car is exempt from DOT and EPA standards and you would only need a customs broker to clear the vehicle through customs.
Opel? You should have seen the Mantas and GTs I had in high school. Opels still turn me on. I would love to drop one of my FJs into one.Very nice to meet you Mike. You are correct, during the past years, the Nissan GT-R's were a hot commodity, and being imported by the dozen. It was a huge scandal. Well, for those who have been patient, and now have cars that are a little more rusty, the time has come to import them if they are more than 25 years old.
Basic customs clearance costs are as follows:
Entry fee $350.00
Bond $4.50/$1000 value min of $50.00
Duty 2.5%
MPF .21% min of $25.00
HMF .125%
ISF $25.00
ISF bond $60.00 flat.
We are able to ship them from/to anywhere in the world or USA

TMS, you're more then welcome to ship your cars to me, it's easier to register cars in Canada...themadscientist wrote:Old GT-Rs, real GT-Rs with the S20 are in the neighborhood of $50-$60, THOUSAND dollars. I am no fanboi of the S20, I'm an L guy. I would get an L-powered one for half the price.
If my job situation works out I am trying to return to the states to pursue my political aspirations. imagine me as a congressman! "to my esteemed colleague,"
I've got the 180, the RS, two bikes and a 20 foot container of parts that would have to come back with me so I would be interested in anything you could find out. I likely won't be coming until 2013-14 at the earliest. If work starts paying better add the R32 GT-R to the list of stuff coming back.
Ack, I emailed them before checking their website; I'm an idiot.

It appears to really be that simple, but I will confirm. If your car is 25 years or older, the car is exempt from DOT and EPA standards and you would only need a customs broker to clear the vehicle through customs.
