It's funny how someone sais something, and all people read is what they want to see written. He said his dad had the bank give him trashed homes to clean and the bank would resell. The bank would proffit and give him $500 for cleaning it. He worked for his money. He just knows a guy who knows a guy.

Don't worry. Different perspectives I guess. I'm all for it. My dad and I are the only 2 males in the family so when he was away for 6+ months (Navy), I had no one to help me with a project car. Cars are a fantastic way of keeping kids off the streets and drug free. Automotive isn't just a hobby, it's also a possible career. Cars aren't going anywhere. We will always need mechanics in the future. Would you rather have a passionate tech who's been working on cars sence 16/17 and has propper training, or a tech who has propper training and is just in it for the money? I always look at the tech's car(s) just as I always look for fat chefs. Cause you can't trust a skinny cook.

Guys everyone's life is different.

There is a reason we are all on these forums though, and it is not because of WHAT we have, it is the passion we share for them. How we get it should not matter. Some of us learned the value of a dollar at an early age some of us at later ages. Some of us learned to appreciate at early ages and some of us at later ages, some even learned to appreciate in unfortunate accidents. Eventually though we ALL learn the value of what we have and how to appreciate it. The negativity and confusion I am reading between ya'll kinda sucks. Who cares who has "what", or how many "whats" they have. Who cares how they got their "whats" and why. As long as they appreciate it and they are not bothering you or offending you, I think everything is all good.

Keep the peace.

One Love,

Ghasty

If you wanna be a real big bro, then i think you should help him get it and show him how to take care of it. it isnt hard to help them get it, but to maintain it and care for it its a whole different level.

i wish my dad or my big bro had done something like that fo me, everything i have is only b/c of me! you should do it...

I think this is a really cool idea, man. Like most of the others said, it keeps him putting his time and money into something productive, and he will be learning useful things that will help him throughout his life. It's even better that you and your dad are willing to help, so he has a guide and isn't stumbling around blindly.

I wish i had a cool older brother like you and a dad who i could consider a car guy. I also wish i could get my experience with cars somewhere. as of right now i have maybe the slightest clue. As for me and buying a car the summer after i graduated from highschool (last year) i worked my balls off. worked a 7 to 7 job at 10 dillarz an hour and made the bank to buy my car. it taught me a lot to work that hard and finally get something i wanted. I think by saving his money alone your little bro will realize some things. and by working on it with you too hell appreciate it more. i dont think we have to worry about any crashes, if the lan does go through.

honestly, its an awesome idea. i bought my 240 when i was 17(i am 19 now, gonna be 20 soon) and i am the younger brother and my car gave me and my brother some common ground. my car potentially saved my life(not trying to overdramatic or anything). before i bought my 240 i hated everything, me and my brother would always fight and argue, i was contemplating drugs and my life was basically going downhill but my 240 changed everything. it gave me a new outlet for my frustration, if was mad i would just cuise the countryside for hours. me and my brother get along awesome now, he is one of my best friends now. i actually joined the army and have been for almost 3 years now. this spring me and my brother are going to turbo my 240. this is just my personal experience of what my 240 did for me, that 240 will remind him of you when your not around. with all that being said... good luck with all you guys have planned

You know what. At least I'm not one of those @$$holes that goes around telling people how rich I am and bragging about what I have. How bout you think about it and put yourself in my position for a day. If you had the chance to get hooked up with things you want, why wouldn't you take it? What the hell am I suppose to say? No? And on top of that. My money is all because of ME working my @$$ off. All I got was a hook up from my dad. Should I apologize for my dad being successful in life? If so, then I'm sorry. F*ck. This is the real life in fact.

Listen, I'm not on Nico to post my cars and brag about them. I'm here to actually help out some people and build a thread because right now I AM in the process of fixing up my ride.

I'm not trying to hate on people that have little money even if they are hating on me. Almost all my friends have less money then I do. Shoot, my first car ever at 15 was a 2007 Subaru STi. One of my buddies dreamed day n night about it, it was his dream car too. So finally and like always I always let my friends drive my cars at least once. And the 4th week I had the car my buddy ran it into a wall at 70 mph. He came out with a bruise and a cut on the wrist but my car was totaled. My buddy's parents had bad financial issues and weren't able to pay for the car. But did I file a law suit on them? NO. And am I still friends with the kid? YES. My life has ups and downs like everyone else. And NO I don't take my things for granted. I appreciate them.

frankly, I would say that the dude who gets handed 500 bucks a day flat rate to clean houses is definately feeding off daddy. You learn alot when you have to go get your own job, make your 7 bucks an hour flipping burgers, and knowing what $100 for a week's worth of work is.... learning to respect the little people will make you a real man in the future.

secondly..... I wouldnt want just about any 240 I can buy for 500 bucks as my daily driver....... and we dont deal with rust much here. getting a decent 240 that doesnt need a ton of work and usually one that has a blown motor in it these days is getting expensive.

even blown kas are selling for 200 bucks down here these days........

if you cant afford 500 bucks for drivers ed and such, no sense in buying a car that will require a ton of money sunk into it. buy a neon(perferably a 420a powered one) and learn the basics of upkeep and driving(5spd if possible).

then go get a 240 when you are better equiped to even make a 500 dolllar chassis safe and reliable.

Ps the neon is great if you want to junkyard turbo it and have some fun later on as well, but are solid for when you need to get to work....... even in ****ty weather. they are ugly as sin, but you gotta do what you gotta do

Thanks guys for all the comments! lol Tek those are two of the cars we were looking at! An auto would be more than perfect for him though because that gives us something to start with, PLUS I have a KA 5speed sitting in my Dads garage lol

kool. I also have my KA's transmission I dont know what to do with it though. Im probably gonna keep it in my basement or something. I've been wanting to swap an auto over to manual for a while now, should be fun.

Check craigslist, I see some good 240's in the Chicago region usually.
