yeah i had a switch like that, all you have to do is ground the extra wire, you have a pos, a neg. and the ground , and the ground is what lets the led turn on. if you dont want it dont ground it

While I was doing this mod, one of the metal prongs of my new switch touched the silver box underneath the cig lighter and sparks started to fly. I checked my mirrors, seatbelts, windows, wipers, lights and cig lighter but they all seem to work still. The lit sleepy eyes mod works fine as well.

Does anyone know this little box is for? Please help.

^^^ That's good to know. My automatic seatbelts work perfectly fine so I guess it's safe to say that nothing went wrong.

Except one thing... I'd hate to be the type to ask question after question, but I need to. My headlights aren't at equal height and it bugs like crazy. I turned off the new switch, disconnected the "light control" fuse and even disconnected the battery. I was only able to move the headlight arm in one direction, after loosening the bolt like you mentioned a while back. The lid doesn't fall either like you said in your post a while back. Please help a brotha with a winking car in need. . Thx.

If you took the right bolt out, it should have fallen, as thats the only thing holding it up, then its just a matter of tightening the bolt down as you hold the lid to the corrected height .

theres also an adjustment nut on the arm that connected to the lid, youll notice you can pop that socket off, then you can adjust the arm up and down by losening or tightening it... guess i gotta get some better pics to show.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before... I took out my extra headlight motor from the garage and experimented with it. It turns out the bolt holding the adjustment arm is of the "acorn" style and mine was just really jammed in there. A long breaker bar did the trick.

I just realized this write was written over a year ago and you're stilling helping people out with this mod. Thanks for your help Vroom-chirp... a great man indeed. I know, I know... keep it in the pants.

I took pics of the wiring set up, but it was dark and I took them with my camera phone w/ flash. Don't think they'd be of much help.

3. Using the headlight motor control button, lower the head lights to the desired position by pressing the button in and out, this can be tricky since the lids go down once you depress the button, and they stop once you press it in.NOTE: if you close them all the way, repeat steps 1 and 2 again.

Awesome tutorial. Your help has reached a guy in canada

Mine are a little out of line, but the bolt adjustment won't fix that. My left motor is a bit slower than the right, but I don't care haha.

You can manually lift it up to make it line up if you're taking pictures, and when i'm driving, nobody will notice.

don't mind the primer, or the wheel gap...that's being addressed this weekend, but here's what i got in under 30 mins:

Wiring:

Switch Location:

Dude, I was having so much trouble at first because, prior to this project, I have never stripped or crimped wires in my life, but once I got it, it worked just fine. I even had the wrong switch at first, I had a 15amp switch and it wouldn't work, then I went back to autozone and got that same 30amp switch you're using, and its just so sexy

Hey thanks a lot for the write up I did it all today in like 20 mins. I have a problem though. At first, the lit sleepy's worked gret. Now however, I get the lights in the right position etc. and turn on the lights in sleep mode with the switch off BUT it only stays in sleep monde for 5 seconds or less and then the head lights like reset themselves and go the rest of the way down and then all the way back up. I have the proper connectors and the exact same switch, and it was working perfectly. WTF? ha
