Hey guys I noticed there are a bunch of new 240sx owners nowadays. I would like to help them out by having the list of common problems on the 240's so that they know what they might be going against if the car is not in good condition. Also this could be kind of like a reference to people who will eventually get the problems if they haven't already! General:1) Owners having no social life or money cuz of spending it all on their SX 2) Getting ur hopes crushed when you see a Ford Probe. This applies really to S13 pop owners who enjoy blinking at other pop owners.3) 4x4 status from the factory < I really wonder why Nissan put this car so high up.4) Slow5) S***ty past owners6) Questionable mileage on motor7) Dents up the a**8) Bad gas mileage9) Everyone asks "hey dude you drift" or "do you have that swapped", "is there an sr20 in there?"

Interior:1) BROKEN radio trim!!2) Cracked dash3) Ciggerette lighter assemble falling off4) Uncomfortable seats5) Broke driver seat bolster6) The need to buy black fabric paint7) Blown hvac bulbs8) Is that a back seat?9) s***ty clutch pedal feel10) Water in the trunk(hatch)11) Brake lights always on(Rubber thing broke)12) That fuel smell that comes into the cabin every now and again13) S***ty shift boot14)

Body:1) Rusting frame rails2) Shot subframe bushing3) Rust where the stock spoiler used to be. S134) Rusty battery tray5) Clunking noise when cornering hard and when weight is shifted suddenly to the back!6) Fan clutch is INCREDIBLY loud.7) The infamous rusted hatch on S13 SE models8) Dirty MAF9) Leaky Power Steering 10) Timing Chain Guide FAIL11) Water in Tail Lights12) Oil leaks13)

I know there is a bunch of problems, but you get the idea! -Arash

CA18DET - coilpacks failing

CA18DET - People saying WTF when they see the engine

common problems...lack of power, piles of boxes of parts from ebay and other nico members, no friends, broke driver seat bolster, the need to buy black fabric paint, s***ty past owners, ka24de, ka24e, automatic transmissions, blown hvac bulbs, rusty battery tray,ricer painted vents just to name a few

Torn steering rack boot

Insane steering wheel vibration +55mph

may not be a problem but, fan clutch is INCREDIBLY loud.

Completely non working cigarette lighter that falls the f*** out (need to get that fixed in order to get a radar detector). Torn seats (thus I have ugly seat covers). Non existent backseat. Dents up the a**. Rust and that annoying smell that comes into the cabin every now and again. I really wanna see another 240 owner while I'm out driving just so I can flash my high beams at him...only if it's an S13 with pop ups though.

some of this stuff arnt common 240sx problems...steering wheel vibration and torn steering rack boot is just your car....

Catalytic Converter failing, happened to a friends 240, and maybe starting to go in mine.

Drivers seat seperating at the point where the very painful bar is on the back of the seat near the driver's door, seen many a 240 with that one by the way.

i find both of those extremly funny due to the fact that i had a 89 Probe GT and it was way faster than any of the 240's i have owned. the first gen probe gt's were turbo with a very small ihi vj11 turbo as well as a very small intercooler, i got lucky with the one i had because it was a former cop car in Florida and was bored over and had no top speed limiter. To me being a former probe owner means that i think the cars look nothing alike and i can spot both from a pretty far distance and not ask what car it is.

at quick glance no, i would think the issue would be more with the first gen probe more so than the second gen like in the pic. if you think about the probe and the 240 and really compare them overall as a whole then you would notice that the probe is a hatchback just like the 180sx as the mx-6 is a coupe just like the silvia. do you think mazda really thought that much into it when they manufactured the probe for ford and the mx-6 for themselfS?

it was an entry level "sport" compact that was more popular with older woman than any other demographic.

its nothing spectacular and worth the ridiculous asking prices people put on them
