ditto..that'd be out of character with ROTAs "we like to rip off good wheels, make cheaper copies with crappier offsets..." mentality...

yeah it sucks finding wheels. fortunately I contacted a guy at TireRack (the tire/wheel guy on another forum) and they had some K1's in stock. they had like two sets when I ordered mine. luckily I had the cash too. 119 a piece 16x7 et22. I love them. look decent, offsets are great. I think they can still custom drill blanks no? not sure about 16's, I know they could do 17's but they are like 219/wheel for that.

WTF? You got Kosei k1's? I'm confused, I thought they weren't getting those in again-- why is it that some TireRack reps can source those rims for us (albeit every once in a while) and some say that they're hands are tied and all they have to offer us is on the site and that they don't do 'custom' orders?

well I got some conflicting info at first but then talked to this guy and he said they had a couple sets left. this was a few months ago though. but if I hadn't been persistent and talked to a couple different people I wouldn't have known. The first guy I talked to at TR (not a forum mod or anything, just a randon sales rep) had no idea about having them, or even drilling the blanks. again this was a couple months ago or so when I bought mine, and their supply is most definately out. Not sure if they will be getting them again. I love the wheel though, I'm guessing they just dont sell enough of them for Kosei to continue producing them. a pic for tease

its a guy getting them custom made, and after the GB he's gonna sell them. I guess they were originally a truck wheel, but Rota is gonna make them in RWD offsets. THe person doing the GB is josh from AutoRND. I'd rather have some K1s, but noooo...they had to get rid of all the good sizes

What? Again, I've never seen them advertise or imply they could make wheels for 'trucks' on their site. That's so strange. I say this because i've emailed them a while back about their intentions of making rwd-friendly offsets and all they could say is that they had some rims that had a +38 offset. They seem to be primarily targeting the Honda market. I'd be cautious about it. Do you have some pics of the wheels the guys selling with the inner wheel label w/ the spec on it?

Its not just some random guy doing the GB, he sells lots of stuff through his company. Why don't you just register on zilvia and check it out for yourself?

Spoke with Grant at Tirerack earlier this week...the Kosei K1 in 4 lug for our cars is gone. They had some blanks that they were machining, but they are no more. Your best bet to get some Kosei K1 wheels would be used here on NICO or Ebay. Caveat Emptor.

As for Miata rims, you'd have to check the wheel FAQ here in this forum. If I had to guess, I'd say "no", but I'm sure it's in the Wheel FAQ.

As for wheels, I'm really liking the Rimstock/Team Dynamics line. Check out the Pro Race 3 on their UK website. They have 'em in 15" and 17"...good looking 6 spoke wheel.

I also think it's pretty cool that Rimstock supplies forged wheels for manufacturers like Lotus!

Hey, I figure if they are one of the top wheel suppliers for all sorts of sanctioned motorsports, why not get 'em? I called up Mr. Don Kane, I'm going to go ahead and order the Pro Race One rims in 15x7, +30, in a deelicious bronze. He's going to contact me back whether or not the UK warehouse has them and if he can get him on the next container leaving for next week. I don't mind waiting, since it's still winter right now.

Mmm...Bronze.... ^

Team Dynamics told me the 17x8 +20 would be around $180 a wheel...same as FNs I really really wish they made a 16x8..

Cool. I'd order some if I wasn't paying off stuff I charged for X-mas. I should be all set to order by April, just in time for Summer. I wonder if we can get the Pro Race 3 wheels here...they're quite nice.

BTW, turtl631 did they tell you the weight of the 17x8 wheels?

They didn't, but on the site I think it said the weight in kilograms. I remember converting to pounds and thinking that it seemed kind of heavy.

Nope. Check out the UK home page for Rimstock. Under wheel ranges they have both a Pro Race 3, which is a nice looking 6 spoke in 15x7 and 17x7 as well as Pro BTCC (British Touring Car Championship, I think) in a bunch of different sizes.

Not sure if we can get these here, but since they are ordered from the UK, I don't see why not, as long as they have the correct sizes or can machine blanks.

I have been in email contact w/ Team Dynamics and here is the info on the pro race 1s:15" X 7.0 OFFSETS ARE +30, +35, +40, +45, +48

17" X 7.0 OFFSETS ARE FROM +15MM TO +50MM IN 5MM INCREMENTS.

THE WHEEL IS ALSO OFFERED IN A 17 X 7.5, 17 X 8.0 & 17 X 9.0.

retial fo rthe 17x8 is $180/wheel, about the same price as FNs but as you all know the FNs for the 4 lug have weak offset (+35) which won't clear coilovers in the front. If many of you guys are interested I can ask if they'd do a group buy and lower the price/wheel a bit.

BM--Those Pro Race 3's are HOT! No bronze though

Liu: If you could work out something like that you may be on to something, everybody could benefit, and could get TD's name out there so that more distributors can sell them stateside.

I'm tihnking of picking up a set of pro race 1 in 15x7 +30mm offset for my S14... I'll lose the 17inch good lookingness but the wheels will be 5mm more flush... plus I'll be able to run better tires since tires are cheaper...

the pro race 2s have better sizing, 16x7 +15,+25, but they are ugly IMO.

The 17x8 start at 9 kilograms, which is about 19.5 lbs...not very light at all for that size wheel. In fact, its probably as heavy or heavier than the MB motorsports wheels I was thinking of getting. Perhaps their light design is proportionally heavier for larger diameter wheels?

Just orderd my Pro Race 1's in bronze (15x7+35) today, Mr.Don Kane was uber nice and informative. I'm having the 4x100 dual drilled, i expressed my concerns about doing that but he said the rims mounting surface is made for it, and they do this for a lot of people. Well, they should be here next week, i may not mount them right away, winter worries me, so probably when spring rolls around. Can't wait to throw some nice tires for autoxing this year.

I got them for $125 a piece, plus free hub rings, $65 to ship (i'm all the way on the east coast, so $65 is not too shabby). Overall, i'm happy. I'm going to sleep with one when they come here.

I'm a bit confused about something. Don't they have 4x114 wheels available? Do they not carry the Pro Race wheels in that bolt pattern?

Also, it looks like Rimstock makes wheels with the correct hub bore. Why do they need to give you hub rings, aren't the wheels hubcentric?

Guys, guys, guys.

I ordered wheels direct from the CA warehouse ( i didn't do the whole UK warehouse thing because they didn't have any 4x114 +30 pro race 1's in stock and probably not the color i wanted).

The Pro Race 1's he sold me, are 4x100 +35 (good enough for me, i won't be running coilovers and there were no +30's in stock) but will be drilled to 4x114 for me. Maybe he threw in hub rings because he doesn't know that the hub bore is correct already, or maybe they're not because they are 4x100, I don't know as i didn't check on the hub-bore stats on the wheels.Yes, +30 would've been ideal but it's not like +35 is +45 or something. I'm still doing better than stock, and my z brakes will have plenty of room to breathe, and i'm freeing up a *lot* of unsprung weight from having had the z-brakes in combination with the stock alloys, it makes for a annoying ride.

ps: I asked about the Pro Race 3's, he said that they haven't been made yet by Rimstock UK.
