its not the initial cost (drives & programming the site) thats scary, its the maintenance. you can get a 2 terabite drive for ~$100. the cost starts adding up when greg has to add more drives every time 1 fills up = eventually the server needs replacing. people are forgetting the owner of this site runs it out of his home. this site isnt his income nor golden nest egg. he does this because he loves nissans; thats it.JB'sRogue wrote: COST?
our setup is a lot less intricate, so the costs wouldn't be THAT significant up front, but eventually they would lead to Greg having to implement a paid membership on here if one wants any picture-hosting capacityJB'sRogue wrote:I am in IT so i know maintenance costs are pricy. Just renewed a maintenance contract for our mainframe and the cost was in the millions
totally different format. we are not vbulletin.daltonvol wrote:Hey, I don't know anything about any of this stuff, and I think you all do a great job. But I'm a member on another free forum (volnation.com) that seems very similar to this one (they use vBulletin, I think), and they are able to host picture and video (although they do have a cap on filesize). It's always been my impression that the ad revenue was more than enough to cover the operating costs. Of course, I think they have a lot more members than nicoclub. It might be worth the mods checking it out if you're seriously considering any changes.

[/quote]It is not SL but Krom was not really S either. That is something between. Krom DOES have color-matched mirrors, spoiler and even tinted windows but doesn't have roof rack like SL. It doesn't have BOSE system but it does have 6 speakers vs 4 speakers of S model etc. It is more like S with 360 all around package + some mods.followingnfront wrote:Negative. The Krom didn't have any of that. The Krom was an S (base model) with cute bumpers, dual center exhaust tips and different rims... Sounds like you have an SL...
I wasn't suggesting the Krom was like the SL, I was suggesting that the OP has an SL because he said he has leather and HIDs.Leo2005 wrote:It is not SL but Krom was not really S either.
