alright nico,

so i have had my s13 for about five years, and for the last two it has been a long term project that i have only worked on a few months at a time. As it sits its a shell, and has quite aways to be put back together.

I just picked up a first gen cressida, and i am really stoked about it, but I know i will be itching to tinker with it. SO for those that started with a 240 and ended up selling it, do you regret it at all?

mine is my first car so its a bit of a sentimental value to me, and i do have big plans for it, but i always end up buying other vehicles and sorta put it on the backburner.

:frown:

No regrets. I felt a tad sad for a few hours selling it, but it was time to move on and I liked the car I replaced it with. Fast forward 8 years and a student hands me the keys to his S13 to drive a few hot laps at NHMS, and I felt nostalgic, not unhappiness.

If at all possible, never sell your first car.
...or at least the first car you had sex in.

Just remember that the things you own have a way of owning you.

I get nostalgic about cars, but never really miss them unless they were taken away by some means other than my doing.

I was messing with a Cressida Wagon with the 5m yesterday. Pretty awesome, especially the transmission buttons for power, econo, and something else.

If I had the space to keep it I would...keep, but if you know you probably wont do anything with it and you could use the space...sell.

Definatly no regret. LIke to think I moved on to something that makes me as equally happy and pumped to drive! I get wierd looks when i tell ppl i went from a s14 in pretty good condition to the pile I am constantly working on now.

Keep it. Make it cool, failed projects suck.

I sold my first S chassis, then proceeded to buy 3 more, 2 of which I still own.

Naa I would NEVER! sell my S14. Is my first car and I will have it till something really bad happens that I can't do anything to do it to revive it.

Owned 5 240s. Sold them all. The 240 is a great car, but there is no reason to get married to it. There are plenty of cars out there, and I believe you should "play the field" to continue my analogy.

AWESHUM!!! Just like you said. Wheels, drop, fender mirrors, but please do 5-speed. It really makes it that much more complete. My plans for cressida ownership fell through when i lost my job and had to focus on other things. X7's are starting to pop up around me, so i know it'll just take bugging the right neighbor.

P.S. If the new car makes you equally happy to own it, then I'm sure you'll be fine.

Lol. Honestly, if you're gonna finish it just to sell it, I think you're setting yourself up for heartache. You might find yourself trying to scare off buyers. Better yet, if you have the funds to finish it, that means presently you can afford it. With that being, you might as well just go ahead and keep it.

I would've never sold my 240. Then I destroyed it. Idiot move. Completely my fault. I will never forgive myself for it, but I've pretty much moved on. I wouldn't sell it if I were you.

I am in the same conundrum as you are hb, I used to love my S14, but it's got a ton of miles on the chassis and suspension and despite my best effort and busting my a** I can't afford to replace suspension parts and frankly life has dictated that I can't have a project car right now. I want to sell it and use the money to buy a truck, but at the same time I've invested so much blood, sweat, and money into her that I can't bring myself to sell her. Not to mention I would have a really hard time letting the car go without thinking that it would be drifted into a wall or wrecked, or worse stripped down for parts and sold off. While this isn't my first car, it is the car that I've owned the longest, all my other cars were totaled by no fault of my own... As far as the first car I had sex in, it was stolen, taken for a joyride, and then torched.
