Picked up my first SR this saturday! Hella excited/scarred/nervous/anxious to have it. I only know a small bit about KA's, less about SR's. I've been drifting on my stock KA for a few years now and finally it died. Time to upgrade!

I've been lurking around this SR forum for about a month now reading as much as i can trying to pick up more and more info and it feels like i'm in over my head, but i can't turn back now. Gonna rebuild the engine and try my best to do everything right so i dont have to fix as much later. My dad and I will be doing the swap ourselves(first import swap for both of us) with the help of my more experienced friends.

I just had to post this cuz i'm way stoked! It was a trip sitting there and i realized "i own an SR now".

I'll be around asking lame questions and all that other newbie stuff. see you guys later.

GL and you'll never regret the swap as it sounds like you guys are mechanically inclined and will not be the"omgwtf you mean I have to work on and pay attention to my car?" type of SR owner

Good luck on the project!

I should hopefully be starting up my rebuild thread soon and will be doing a pretty extensive how to for the board. I'm still a few weeks out having to wait on pistons, bearings, a timing chain, and machine work.

Also why do you have a different car on your avator + sig.

Thanx for all the good words guys, really appreciate it. I'm asking all the people around me to donate any extra patience they have cuz i have very little. I'm trying to take this as slow as i can, meanwhile trying to make it to an event in oct or nov. I'm not a patient person what so ever, but this is going to be the biggest test ever.

If my cash flow was stronger, I woulda had all this sooner than later lol. I understand that I will spend much more on this, but thats ok. I wear this rib showing hungry body like a badge of honor, I dont mind putting money into my car over eating. As far as the avatar and sig... Avatar is my first 240 I had when i first joined these forums, sig is my current one. It was a fun learning experience with that red 240, and i guess i dont wanna forget where it all started. Thanx again. Peace.

I replaced the front and rear main seals. Was like 25-30 dollars. If youre upgrading manifolds. id reccommend a multilayer gasket like the one offered by SPLParts.

Depends on how much money you have for the swap. Id buy a new water pump and thermostat. Look at the valve cover gasket. Look at that. I would hate to have such thing go bad and car be down a week because youre waiting. I have a few MISC. parts like that around.
