Those are the most uncomfortable shoes ever. And the price tag is ridiculous for what they are. But they aren't too bad for driving.

yea, they're uncomfortable if you have to stand in them for lang periods of time, but they're pretty great for driving. also, they're my favorite choice of shoes. i get mine for 40 bucks, cheap.

I have used the same pair of SiDi's for about about 3 years. They are a driving sneaker made by Italian manufaturer. I suggest these and they can be bought off of my website relatively cheaply.

check them out, you can just go to Sidi's website.

I also use their race boots for the bikes. They are great

just sayin

by the way...

I love it when guys wear driving shoes around to the mall and s***. Unless I was going to hit the Dragon or something, I think to wear purpose built "driving" shoes is ghey.

just sayin

Well, I haven't worn them in forever. I wear my DC's for everything. I can't justify taking time to change shows every time I go drive somewhere.

Although, I could see rocking the piloti's on a daily basis rather than most "driving shoes". Like you said, most of them look goofy when people wear them around.

So you can't even heel toe and you want driving shoes for driving around the city?

Why?

This thread seems stupid, and I still don't believe ANYONES feet are too big to heel toe. Its a cop out for not knowing how to do it, it feels weird to everyone at first.

K1 has cheap driving shoes that are nomex lined, and carry a SFI cert. http://www.k1racegear.com/s-8-shoes.aspx

They aren't bad either, but NOT for walking around. 10 minutes of walking in them and you WILL hate it, but mine fit pretty tight.

RACING UGGS!

:PThey are for rainy conditions.

I got these oneshttp://www.k1racegear.com/p-24....aspxBut I think they were way cheaper when I got them? I wanna say they were closer to $20? Maybe I am not remembering right, or maybe they sponsored us...

If they did sponsor us... they are probably the greatest racing shoes ever.

Those are very good for cars that have the brake pedal a lot higher then the gas pedal.

I didn't know they made driving shoes - I used to buy them for my kid when he was racing BMX (great clipless pedal shoes).

^ THIS.

Too small is a possibility tho.
ADDirishboy wrote:You saw how torn up mine were last time I saw you guys. I still can't find the canvas ones online anywhere.
Me neither. Bummer, too - They're great in the garage / pits, and you can wash 'em.

Pilotis seem to heavy to me. I'll stick with my Pumas... plus, they don't have the "trendy driving shoe" stigma.

I saw some wankcheese in Quizno's the other day in a pair of RED Alpinestars Tech 1-T FIA racing shoes, camouflage cargo shorts, popped collar, driving a Scion tC.

I had a pair of Pilotis like BB posted for a while. The reinforced sides plus thin sole meant the shoes didn't flex but there was still good pedal feel.

As for feet being too big to heel-toe, I can tell you that big shoes are a huge PITA in a lot of cars. It can be really hard to maneuver your feet quickly, which puts a damper on real-world heel-toeing. Even if you can make use of both pedals, being able to move your feet without getting them caught on crap hung in the upper footwell is a whole different issue. Whether or not a certain pair of shoes will fit in my car's footwell is actually one of the major things I have to consider before buying. Driving shoes are usually much lower profile than athletic or hiking shoes (which I prefer for comfort outside the car) and therefore are easier to drive with.

This seems like a good middle ground

I've been looking for them forever with no success, and then they all of a sudden show up on american eagle's website.

Those things have THICK soles. Not what I want in a driving shoe.

I meant that you could walk around everyday without looking goofy, but still have a pretty snug fit without all that extra bulk in the footwell, compared to the DCs that Loki was talking about. The sole is pretty thick though.

Krash, see if Duffs Gambler is any easier to find than that Puma. They look identical. I used to own a pair of the Duffs and liked them as an everyday shoe.

So I guess I misspoke in my first post. I don't really need a hardcore, fire retardant racing shoe, just something moderately comfy/flexible with good pedal feel. I really like the look of the two in my first post, but I do like the Piloti's as well. You guys have given me some good ideas

I don't have a dedicated pair of "driving shoes", but I do have these, and I love them for driving.

Adidas Sambas

Great feel on my feet. Lightweight. Fairly thin soles and just very comfy. The only issue I have with them is they are too narrow for me to be able to blip the gas pedal with the side of my foot for rev matching (I can't heel toe. I have tried, but I just can't get the hang of it).

I bought mine in January of 2001, about one week before I got out of the Navy, and they are still in very good condition. I have been wearing them quite a bit lately and would like to get another pair of them.

Also just looked up the Puma Speed Cat. Those look uuber nice. Might have to score me a pair of those when I get home this summer.
