I've been using a generic pair of DC's the past year and I've liked em just fine but I'm itching for a change. I was originally thinking something like Puma speedcats, or something similar. Alpinestars would be slick, but that's far and beyond the budget ($50-$80). What do you guys think of these?

Anyone got suggestions?

not that I race but I love a worn in pair of adidas Spezial, They are indoor soccer/hand ball shoes. Feel like heavy duty socks when I wear mine.

Most just around city driving. Lot of clutch and throttle work. No heel-toe, feet are far too big. I've seen Adidas like that too, like the look of em.

One thing I like about my DC's is I can just slip them on and off, which is good since I keep a pair of work boots in my trunk for when I get to work and I don't have to bother tying them every day.

I don't think I would ever buy a specialized driving shoe for sporting around town.

So, far, the only shoe listed in this thread that's worth a damn for serious driving is the Piloti that BB posted (and even those are too thick / stiff for me).

I have a beat-down pair of canvas Puma RepliCats that are perfect for driving... Also a pair of suede Puma SpeedCats that are not quite as shagged, but also good.

The Prototipo (black and orange shoe in my pic) is actually pretty thin. The width is thin too, I I'd suggest ordering a half-size large or be prepared for a week of or so of suckage while the material stretches to fit.

But, once they're stretched they are super comfy! You can pick up a lot of the older styles on Amazon for pretty cheap. I'd steer away from anything without the Piloti roll-control heel unless you can get them on the cheap (say $30) and just want something for casual wear. If you want a decent track shoe for not much money look around for the Piloti DTM.

No, I don't work for them.

dang, I didn't know piloti was that good! I snagged a pair at Ross for like 20 bucks a while ago. They're pretty comfy. I haven't used them with the M/T yet though

I can't, it feels too weird. I have long toes that wrap around the pedals.

I have big feet and when I first started driving my shoes would kinda get in the way. So thats why I started driving barefooted.

I prefer flip-flops so they can get stuck and anger me and endanger other drivers. With regular shoes, there just isn't that thrill of uncertainty. "Will my flop get stuck under the brake pedal and kill me today? Guess I'll have to find out!!"

Same, but don't have much of a preference to brand/style. I've tried driving barefoot before, but I seem to go retarded on the clutch and it's never a smooth ride. Sometimes I'll take my shoes off on long road trips, but that's all with the cruise on.

While I've never tried it, a cheap alternative racing shoe are wrestling shoes. Pretty much no padding in the sole so you get maximum feel. Construction is likely to be similar enough everywhere else except for the lack of fire retardant material. I expect they might be a little better ventilated than racing shoes as they aren't designed to be fire retardant. Not sure what they go for these days, but I recall buying them for as cheap as $30-$40 in high school.

Haven't had a chance to really try them out yet, but I bought these a few years back. The color is a little much, but it does turn the heads.

Well I don't happen to buy a pair of shoes that turned out to be good "driving shoes", although I don't make sure I put them on when I drive, but the do work nicely.

They are Diesel shoes. I'll post a pic later, but they are a discontinued model. They are very very thin and light. I love them.

You saw how torn up mine were last time I saw you guys. I still can't find the canvas ones online anywhere.
