I don't know about that "turbos feeling dirty in a sports car," I actually think because they have a turbo that makes it more of a sports car. The size of the engine really does not matter its about the power that the engine can produce. Also the turbo on the Silvia/180sx is not just some little turbo like on a VW, these (mainly speaking of the T28) are pretty decent turbos.

I don't know, turbo to me means the developer gave up on extracting the maximum out of an engine in its true form...

In a way, that's why I respect toyota and Honda.

i dont really respect toyota and honda any more than nissan. usualy the better toyota sports cars came with turbos "sw20, jza80" celica gt4. the newer mouse celica werent a real big HP getter either in stock form. and honda just basically builds basic gas efficient engines with "vtec, ivtec". it's not like they extracted all the hp out of its engine either. its decent hp but depends on a light weight body for it to go. if thats the case nissan has done some decent work also. the sentra se'rs had what 2 litres with i forgot about 160 or 175hp i cant remember on to po fmy head. the Zs now have almost 300 in stock form.

turbo is godly =) it may not be ahigh revving car but its cool. the spooling is so cool. screw vtec kicking in, its all about the turbo kicking in haha. thats why half the forum like turboing their kas

I suspect the reason many here turbo their KA's is because it's easy power or only so much can be obtained with NA tuning and they want more. Not to mention very few people are sure of what the KA's capability is going to be after everything is figured out concerning head swaps and ITB vs. carberation.

I have AllState and the 240 isn't a sports car. I drive a 91 Fastback.

Don't forget Nissan. 300hp out of a V6 in the new G35, that's awesome to me. Not to mention their hp/tq gap isn't nearly as wide as Honda's. Toyota is still my favorite manufacturer even though they design cars for old people now. *sigh*

well, 298 technically, but that block is 3.5 liters. I like to see the 100hp to liter ratio standard now adays. I guess manufacturers got to keep it reliable in a way...

What kills me is the new k20 is making 220 hp out of 2 litrs, the newest b18c was making 210, the older f20c was making 240... Sure the torque was anemic compared to nissan engines, but up the displacement/#of cyls. and problem fixed. Toyota is the same deal, their 2zz is making 180 if I remember correctly.

I know nissan can do it, there's the sr20ve/sr16ve, but why they don't follow the same formula w/their higher end cars is unknown to me. In a way, I would've loved to see a 350 hp vq35de or vq33de. i guess torque is what we've come to love as nissan owners.. =P

No, it's not.

It's 'sporty'.. but it's FAR from a sports car.

The Z32 is a sports car.

its a hard one to say.....if it was a pure 2 seater then i'd say yes easily....the rear seat may not be useable but it is there....Rear wheel drive, 2 doors, emphasis on handling, light, decent power, can be had with a manny transmission...honestly it would be a hardtop miata if it didnt have the back seat

sports car, as people say a supra is a sports car, it's almost identical aside from their size differnece, both =hatch, both FR, 2 doors, 5 spd, both rear seats, supra =heavy and v6, 240= light and I4. comparing to the NA supes they're very similar.

Sports cars come in a lot of different forms.

It's easier to DISQUALIFY cars than to qualify them as sports cars.

disqualifiers:

-Only offered with automatic (i.e. no CLK's, they're grand tourers)

-No 4-doors or wagons (those are sports sedans or sporty wagons)

This leaves us with a number of different types of cars:-Mustangs-Ferraris-240s-Supras, GT-R's, and RX-7s-Corvettes and Mustangs-Miatas, MR-S, Elise, etc...

I consider all of these to be sports cars. They just represent different approaches to the problem at hand.

Consequently, an STI or an EVO is not a sports car, even though it does precisely the same thing. That's a sports sedan, just like an M5 or whatever else. Just as purposeful, but 4dr.

That's kind of a stretch I think...the miata is much lighter, has amazing balance, and double wishbones all around...miatas are incredible on a twisty road, in a way that even a decently modded 240sx just cant be.

It's funny how bringing a drink in my car has become non-existant.. unless it has a twisty cap so that i can take a quick sip at a stop-light. And since i hate using the a/c, it's water. Last time i tried to bring a soda in my car it exploded all over the place. Oh, and i remove the coinbox to put my drinks there. Works ok, and lights up your drink at night. Hehee.

I know that that the s13's dont have much cup holder wise. But the 14's have that neat little square cupholder in the center console that grips my 44 ounce AMPM drinks quite well.

I dont really know what it was made for, but it works fine as one!
