In order to continually be the rock star, I think Obama will immediately undo quite a few things that Bush did from the executive level. Three that come to mind are:

1. Will change the position on embryonic stemcells2. End the Mexico City rule to allow foreign finance money to be used in support of abortion rights3. Will allow Cali to create it's own standards harsher than CAFE4. Various faith-based initiatives

What else?

Honestly? In the first 2-3 months I don't think he's going to do a darn thing. He's a newbie to politics who made it to the white house. I suspect he'll be RTFMing for a long time.

I'm sure he'll be flying around the world shaking hands with world leaders, having introductory discussions "Hey, sup, I'm Mr O" and getting accustomed to dealing with various personalities.

Bush did a lot in the first couple years of his Presidency that un-did various Clinton initiatives, it's pretty typical for a party change.

Anything that Bush did via EO that Obama can simply reverse via the same means will also be accomplishments he can point to without having to get things passed through Congress. Bush did many of the EO's for the same reason at the time.

I happen to support a fair bit of it, but I think it's fairly typical for a White House party change.

From BHO's website: change.gov wrote: Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free.

Sounds like mandatory service to me.

Objective: manufacture good little left-wing voters.

In high school I probably did well over 1,000 hours of community service. I was a Boy Scout. I bet BSA service doesn't count... Wonder if church projects will count either.

100 hours for $4,000 is $40/hr... I'm for it.

My family will be watching to see how fast the Democrat controlled Congress and President Obama dismantle or at best fund/refine No Child Left Behind. The NEA and the local teacher's unions made this a key rally cry for members to get out the vote. I want to see if it is even tackled. If not, my letter to the editor will be drafted for the NEA's Advocate Magazine, so that I can denounce the union for not delievering a Democrat Candidate that would fix NCLB.

Back? Are you kidding? Didn't he vote to keep the wire tapping in place or something that was infringing on my right to privacy?

Can we just let the man do what he's gotta do and let him do it and comment on it then instead of guessing what he's going to do next? This just drags on the whole election thing.

An unnamed friend of mine just got his deployment orders for quarter 2 of 09 in Iraq. Also, rumors are Obama has been telling the military he's going to build it up.

*Note* This would make me very happy I hope it turns out to be true.

What Obama does is dependent on which Obama you are listening to. He has stated "immediate pull out" and he has stated "slow withdrawal" and he has also stated "slow withdrawal with a base in Iraq". The last two are the same as what Bush/McCain/Petraeus have been saying. If he "ramps up" in Iraq that would be completely opposite of anything he has stated in the past.

What does that have to do with the price of cheese? I stated three things he has said about Iraq and commented an "if" on what OriginalWheelman stated so how does a reply of deflection become appropriate?

The hilarity of BHO is that even BHO has no idea who or what BHO is. He is an ever-changing enigma.

Its hilarious because its true. He's even said it himself.

Who knows what kind of man he is really. We will find out, whats done is done.

AUD - Your judging a politician for 'flip-flopping' during a presidential race. Havnt they ALL done that? Hes not a politician anymore, hes a President of the United States of America. Your judgments on him as a politician are all fair game, but you have no idea how hes going to act and be as a president. The truth is, no one really knows. If you open your mind to the possibility that he will be a good president, your criticisms of him(if you have any.. ) will be much more discussable.

Are you trolling or what?

Since I share many of the same views as Matt does I'll try to answer you.

Yes, he could change my opinion of him if he changes is politics and dumps all of his terrorists buddies. I could maybe live with his Politics but his associations with terrorists and Anti American Pastors etc. leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Sure, he could sit down and go over the issues with both sides to determine a proper direction to fix the economy instead of "seemingly" steaming full speed ahead. While every President changes EO's he's making it a presentation of his "change" strategy. We are in an economic meltdown and nobody gives a damn other than throwing money at the problem. That goes towards Bush too but at least he is pushing back on giving automakers some huge lump sum.

What have you seen in the news at this point that shows he is going to be anything but partisan and following Pelosi and the other Dems around? Sounds like he is going to lock down drilling for oil and exploration for more natural gas (EO's). That will lead to our continually relying on OPEC and other foreign countries while increasing prices due to supply. He is looking to press forth with Global Warming initiative which which will lead to higher priced energy. Cap and Trade system will probably take a year to implement but it's coming (McCain sucked there too). More and more articles are coming out about the possibility of 401K's being busted for an SSA administered account which would give money to those who don't even file taxes. It goes on and on.

He's being hailed the first "Global President" when we need him to be OUR President first and help OUR citizens and economy. I don't see it.

Obviously I'm going to give him a chance but what I'm hearing is not looking good in my opinion.

I have no problem with him getting the prisoners out of Gitmo as long as he does not automagically make them US citizens and cater to them as punishment. Send them back to the country they came from.

BTW, you need to resize your sig image to be a max of 200 pixel high. Thx
