hey guys, just picked up my vert friday and it's awesome
im a muscle car guy i have to admit, and ive had nothing but old school cars till now, first car was a 79 nova with a worked 350 in it, then a 70 monte carlo with a worked 327 in it. also drove around a bronco for a while too

for the last year ive had a 04 forester for my daily while i work on the monte and i effing hate it, soooo it was time for a new car, so i picked up a 240sx.... being a muscle car guy, ive still always wanted one of these for some reason, and just got lucky and found a rust free frame convertible.

mods thus far
bc coils
tein tc and inner and outer tie rod ends
act clutch and flywheel
coupe doors
3'' test back exhaust....i hate it, and it scraps
and some other nic nacs
motors a stock rebuilt ka24de with around 80k on it...or so i was told

but on to the pics

heres the pics from the add i picked the car up off of

i also painted the rims orange ( i know i know...ricey...but i was bored and they looked like a** anyways ) pics tomorrow, don't look to bad
bat thats it for today, for tomorrow im going to paint the other 2 rims, hood prop mod, and compound the rest of the car, then a full wash and wax

Yes, +1 for the girlfriend, however, -10 for the orange rims. My rims have lost some of the shine and coating too. I was thinking of seeing what powercoating would cost. Otherwise I'm just gonna have to break down and buy new rims and tires.

eh black and silver is way to in the norm for me, when i do go after market i was looking at those lime green ones by i think rota? or some gold ones from top secret...something a little more "unique"

sooo update for today, i thought i could compound the whole car and then wash and wax...but 5 hours later, i feel like i have infant arms and can't rub any more, so i got done the rear quarter, the door and the front, along with one head light...and thats it haha, but it looks awesome, might do the hood prop mod after dinner

Congrats for branching out man! Hope the vert treats you well. The wheels your talking about are the Volk TE37 I think, I Takata green. However, Rota does make a replica wheel for a hell of alot cheaper, called the Grid. any plans for the engine?

yeah, your right there volks, but just saw how much they cost, and the replicas look a lot more possible sooner. so im probably going to go with those
verts been treating me great, except the throw out bearing might be going in the transmission :\ soooo that needs to get fixed soon
plans for the engine can go 3 ways A. build up a head for this one, and pick up a turbo, and drive it till the bottom end goes, B. save the money and save up for an sr, or ca, or rb20/25 orrrrr C. pick up another dual cam, or single cam and build it up bullet proof and turbo it.
But! if i sell my buick im going to start a rb30 project to put in it

Update:
tinted the tails...not just the s*** smokey flat black job ya see, looks like legit glossy black paint...took hourssssssss
got overspray on the back fenders tho...sooo thats s***, but i might just order over fenders in 2 weeks so thats not a big deal
i'll put photos up of the car later today

I say buy another KA engine and make a bulletproof turbo build! thats what I'm currently doing.

Try some goo-gone or goof-off on the fenders, it might get the tail light paint off

yeah im leaning towards that route with a ka, just seems like the smart thing

and ive had great luck with meguires clear coat safe rubbing compound, it cleaned up the entire car perfectly ...or well at least as perfect as its ganna get haha, it removes over spray like its, its job.

good luck w/ the build. love the rims :)

in any case, you may want to consider going back thru your photos & blurring out your license plate. considering it's your build thread, someone will be able to find out where your car is & have a good idea of what's on your car. just fyi.

update of whats been happening

1.i ruined the radio bezzel trying to paint it ...soooo imma be needing one of them soon. its bothering the hell out of me
2. ordered some bride vios seats in black with a silver back
3. got in a little fender bender...just some scrapes and scratches, but now my other head light doesn't go up and its all outa line, so imma be getting some insurance money from that either today or sometime this week, which im going to be ordering my roll cage with, and possibly a new header-back exhaust.
4. the roof leaks ...bad.. nothing lines up to create a good seal, and i have a hefty sized hole in the top that i didn't think went all the way through, but it does

sooo thats where im at, basically just getting my seats and cage in, then probably a new wheel...after that im going to go for some wide rear fenders and front, then wheels and tires

If you're gonna get the cage for the coupe thinking it will fit, you are wrong. The vert needs a cage made specifically for the convertible. Just thought I'd give you the heads up.

I'm saying the fitment of the mounting points will be different, about 99% sure on that. I just don't want a fellow vert owner to buy something that won't fit. I mean you can buy it and have some modify it to fit, but that will probably cost you just as much as getting a custom cage that will fit your car perfect.

Unless it was specifically made for the S13 convertible, it will not fit. If you want to stiffen the chassis get a rear and front strut bar, lower ladder bar, power brace. Plus if you are not getting a cage or roll bar for safety then it is money wasted, a cage or roll bar is actually less safe for a daily driver.

yeah as of last night and looking around online, i think i rather put my money towards a front end for the car, and hold off on the cage, until i can get one built by a welder.

Yea, for most auto-X races you won't need a cage. However, if you want to go on a track, you're going to need at least a roll-bar. Contact Onosqv about a roll-bar if you want one. He has the vert' specific bar in his car.

i asked my parts guy if he knew a guy that does cages, and gave me a name to a guy, that does them relitivly cheap, so imma just have one custom built some day.

update tho: had foot surgery soooo nothings getting done, but my injector failed, and the bolts holding down the cover was stripped...so finally got that off, but can't walk over to the car to put the new injector in, or drive to the store for new bolts...fml

Which red are you going with? OEM Nissan color, or something different?

Keep up the good work :dblthumb:
