LED Low Beam Bulb... ANyone?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Looking to upgrade (hopefully) the factory halogen low beam bulb with LED bulbs (instead of HIDs). Anyone here has experience (or pictures) replacing factory halogen bulbs with LED bulbs? I am looking at some 80W 6400LM LED low beam bulb http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MOR4CFQ/ref ... HWP5&psc=1 but not sure if they'll fit (even without the cap / housing on the headlight assembly). Also wonder how the light output (beam pattern) will be. Have a feeling the light output will be very bright just concern about the fitting and the beam pattern.

I thought all of the EXs had HIDs? But I have thought about doing this for the fog lights. I wouldn't trust Amazon for something like this though. Aftermarket LEDs haven't been approved for low beam use by DOT because they don't quite have the light output required...but this kits seem to be pretty close to having the output lumens of a regular halogen bulb. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/led-li ... No - some come with halogens for headlights and fog lights
I upgraded my headlights with HIDs from the retrofit source, but I would like to upgrade my fogs to LED and use them for DRL.....eventually.

I was unaware until today. I looked up the bulb for the halogen low beam (H11) and the Retrofit Source sells the LED version of them but they don't sell the LED fog light (H8). If I were you I would get them. Looks like the lumens is higher than the halogen and the RetrofitSource doesn't sell crappy products.

Retrofitsource and Vleds are good.

The Vleds strip LED looks good for DRL. Place it infront of the lower bumper grill .

I had never been to VLEDs website...They have some nice stuff. Little pricey though. But they have turn signal lights that are actually bright enough to be seen. They will also act as DRLs. I am debating using the turn signals as DRLs instead of the fog lights.

I bought a wedge LED from Vleds before for my parking light as my DRL. I like it so far. I have been using it for 4+ years now. I prefer the 5k color which does not give any hint of blue that match my retrofitsource.com HID Low beam headlight pure white output.

My foglights are from DDM tuning which is a 3K HID.

I prefer it this way, all lights are standalone. You'll get more problem with lights that do dual function as it wears it out faster than a standalone setup.

Here is my DRL from Vleds. (Parking light as DRL) - it is bright enough for me. The picture does not show the real brightness since the camera faces the sun.

I believe most stock halogen low beam lamps are 55W.

You're probably right about the risk of damaging the housing with a higher wattage LED bulb. As you may have noticed, the LEDs that put out a decent amount of light need a good sized heat sink. I'm not sure how much air or space they need to be sufficiently cooled, so one would have to keep this in mind. The webpage for VLED bulbs specifically state that their LEDs headlights are not for use with housings that have dust caps, which the EX has. The Morimoto LEDs do not have this disclaimer; they only say that their bulbs will fit most housings without any interference.

I am also waiting for feedback for the LEDs.

This one is much brighter. 4500LM vs 3000LM
http://www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numbers/ ... a-lmz.html

Some of my concerns:
1)They require a fan... fan will break....fan will break faster inside the hood of a car
2) Heat can dim and kill the LED sooner.

IMHO For the price of the Morimotos I would rather buy a cheaper brand. From experience, the stuff from retrofit aren't much better than other vendors. They do have better customer service.
