"supposedly" they are too big and are lagging the site and crashing the servers. I think that's a load of s*** though.

It is a crock of sh*t, the geeks just don't want to put the time in to find out what's really going wrong.

Fu*king slackers...

OMG DAVE
I GOT IT TO TURN ON WITH THE DOOR SWITCH

I saw the diagram and all the switch does is ground itself when the door is open.
So I wired the ground to the door switch and temporarily put the power onto a pin on the gauge cluster harness.
Ta da! Now I just need a capacitor to keep it on for a short period of time.

Just connect them to an electrical outlet in your house.

No, the door switch gets power when the door is open, remember what I said? Red is ground, black is voltage source. However, that switch is not meant for that kind of current.

Careful that you don't cross too many circuits or the fuses won't work anymore, Razi...

I put my ground into the R/W wire.
Did I read this wrong?

And shouldn't it be able to handle another tiny LED in the circuit?

Gir, it is pretty fun. But it will blow them speakers.

I think Dave is right here. Not sure how exactly the car is wired, but it's impressive how many parts of the car aren't wired for anything usable. I've got about 4 or 5 relays in my car to turn on and provide power from another wire directly from the battery. It's annoying as hell.

Edit: if it's an LED, it shouldn't pull too much power. You're probably ok. But if your car lights itself on fire, don't blame me. :)

Also, AT&T is the devil. I wasted over an hour and a half on the phone today with them explaining to them how their billing system effed up and charged me for an extra month. I hope someone listens to the "recorded for quality" garbage to hear my interesting strings of profanity. Not sure how anyone else would react when told their final bill was prorated because the account was only active for 4 days and the prorated amount was $118.

It's not the LED I'm worried about, it's the capacitor. During it's warm-up, it will draw significantly more power then just that LED.

And again, anything connected to the body is going to be your voltage source NOT the ground! You see those descending three lines? That's schematic language for Battery.

Also, what does it say right there on the left, hmmm? A foot light? :poke:

Yeah, the foot light is some rare ish, I wish I had some. :(

So then, I'm lost on how I should try and get this thing to turn on with the door opening.
Also, the chime only turns on when the key is in the ignition so that's useless.

As much as I'd love to blow something up, I'd rather not blow up a pair of subs.

There should be a harness for the foot light even tho it's not an option on yours. I'm pretty sure my 93 SE had them...

It works!
Do you think putting a capacitor on it will drain it too much?

Hey Razi, why exactly do you want/need a keyring light? You cant find the keyhole with just the domelight? Seems like your going through a whole lotta trouble for this thing, just sayin :gapteeth:

You know, the more I look at that diagram, I guess it doesn't really matter where you get your voltage from on that line... It looks like that foot lamp is getting it's source from the door switch, and that's gonna pull more then just an LED and a capacitor will...

But the foot lamp sure would be alot cleaner install point.

Yeah, I'm glad you pointed that out to me.
It's right next to where my knee would be on the dashboard.

Wait- so you had an actual foot lamp or you just found the harness point?
